Antonio Vespucio Liberti
Antonio Vespucio Liberti (; 1900–1978) was a former chairman of Club Atlético River Plate. He presided the club four times, becoming the president who was most often in charge of the club, with 20 non-consecutive years in office. During his periods in charge, River Plate won six titles, three Primera División, one Copa Ibarguren and two Copa Aldao. Liberti carried out bold efforts that contributed to the institutional and sporting greatness of the club. Under his mandate the Estadio Monumental was built, which is currently named after him. Biography The son of Genoese immigrants, Liberti held the chairmanship multiple times: initially from 1933–35, in 1939, 1943–52, 1960–64, and finally, 1966-69. Roberto Matosas Postiglione (born 11 May 1940 in Mercedes, Department of Soriano, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan former football defender. Career At the club level, he played for C.A. River Plate of Argentina and C.A. Peñarol of Uruguay. In September 1964, Club Atlético River Plate signed Matosas for a then-record transfer fee. 1958 FIFA World Cup
The 1958 FIFA World Cup was the sixth FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams, and was played in Sweden from 8 to 29 June 1958. It was the first FIFA World Cup to be played in a Nordic country. Brazil beat Sweden 5–2 in the final in the Stockholm suburb of Solna to claim their first title. The tournament also marked the arrival of a then 17-year-old Pelé on the world stage. This was the first appearance of Wales at the FIFA World Cup and they would not qualify for another until 64 years later. There were also debut appearances for Northern Ireland and the Soviet Union.
