The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. The 2016–17 Eerste Divisie, known as Jupiler League for sponsorship reasons, was the sixty-first season of Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1955. It began in August 2016 with the first matches of the season and ended in May 2017 with the finals of the promotion/relegation play-offs, also involving the 16th- and 17th-placed teams from the 2016–17 Eredivisie. The fixtures were announced on 14 June 2016. The 2015–16 Danish 1st Division season is the 20th season of the Danish 1st Division league championship, governed by the Danish Football Association. The division-champion, the runners-up and the third placed team are promoted to the 2016–17 Danish Superliga because the Danish Superliga will be expanded to 14 teams from the beginning of the 2016–17 season. The team in the 12th place is relegated to the 2016–17 Danish 2nd Divisions.
