Antonio Permuy
Antonio Permuy is an American art patron, curator, art collector, writer, and advocate. He has curated notable exhibitions of Cuban, American, and European art and his writings have been published in the United States and Europe. Permuy has donated works into the permanent collections of museums as well as cultural and educational institutions including the Tampa Museum of Art, Frost Art Museum, Nova Southeastern University, and Hillsborough Community College. Background Antonio Permuy was born in the Lenox Hill neighborhood of New York City and raised in Coral Gables, Florida. He is a grandson of art patron Marta Permuy and international human rights advocate Jesús Permuy. Permuy graduated from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and the University of South Florida. Chicago Athenaeum
The Chicago Athenaeum is a private museum of architecture and design, based in Galena, Illinois. The museum focuses on the art of design in all areas of the discipline: architecture, industrial and product design, graphics, landscape architecture, and urban planning. Among its goals is to advance public education on how design can positively impact the human environment. The museum awards numerous prizes for architecture and design. History The museum was founded in 1988 in Chicago, moved to Schaumburg, Illinois in 1998, and to Galena, Illinois in 2004. The museum in Galena is located in a former brewery building (Fulton Brewery, later Galena Brewery, Eulberg & Sons). In Schaumburg, the museum occupied an old barn at 190 S. Harn Museum Of Art
The Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art is an art museum at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. It is in the UF Cultural Plaza area in the southwest part of campus. The Harn is a 112,800-square-foot facility, making it one of the largest university art museums in the South. This includes 40,400 square feet of exhibition space, 5 garden spaces, a 250-seat auditorium, a museum store, a study center, a café, and classroom spaces. The museum has a permanent collection and an array of temporary exhibitions. The Harn's permanent collection totals more than 11,300 objects, which are focused on Asian, African, modern and contemporary art, as well as photography. Margarita Cano (artist)
Margarita Cano was a Cuban-American artist, curator, scholar, former liaison of the Miami-Dade Public Library System and Center for the Fine Arts, and former Head of Community Relations for the Miami-Dade Public Library System. She was a significant contributor to the development of the Latin American art market of South Florida as a leading figure in the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County public library systems. Cano is responsible for launching the permanent art collection of the Miami-Dade County Library System as well as spearheading several milestone Miami art and literary events of the 1980s, such as Surrounded Islands, ''The Miami Generation'' exhibition, and the Miami Book Fair. Cano died in Miami, Florida, on March 19, 2024, at the age of 92.
