Antonio Hortal (born 31 December 1988) is a Spanish professional golfer. Hortal has played on the Challenge Tour since 2012. He picked up his first win in April 2014 at the Challenge de Catalunya in his home country, playing as an invited player. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. A professional golfer is somebody who receives payments or financial rewards in the sport of golf that are directly related to their skill or reputation. A person who earns money by teaching or playing golf is traditionally considered a "golf pro," most of whom are teachers/coaches. The professional golfer status is reserved for people who play, rather than teach, golf for a career. In golf, the distinction between amateurs and professionals is rigorously maintained. The 2014 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. Callum Shinkwin
Callum Ronald Shinkwin (born 22 May 1993) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Amateur career Shinkwin was a successful amateur golfer. In 2010 he won the Carris Trophy, the English Boys' under-18 open amateur stroke play championship, at Woodhall Spa. In 2013 he won the English Amateur, beating Matt Fitzpatrick 4&3 in the final at Frilford Heath Golf Club, leading to his selection for the Walker Cup team the same year. Professional career Shinkwin turned professional in November 2013 and played on the 2014 Challenge Tour, coming second in the Challenge de Catalunya and finishing 34th in the Challenge Tour Road to Oman. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). The 2011 European Amateur Team Championship took place 5–9 July at Oceânico Golf in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal on its Victoria Course. It was the 29th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 2004. In 2016, Dom Pedro Golf acquired the Victoria Course and four other Vilamoura courses from Oceânico Golf.
