Antoni Gutiérrez Díaz
Antoni Gutiérrez Díaz (1929–2006) was a Catalan physician and communist politician who held various posts. He is also known as ''El Guti''. Early life and education Gutiérrez was born in Premià de Mar on 19 January 1929. His parents were originally from Málaga and settled in Premià de Mar. His father was an anarcho-syndicalist activist and was arrested in 1934. Gutiérrez received a degree in medicine in Barcelona in 1953 and had further training in neonatology in Finland. He was among the anti-Franco activists during his youth. Career and activities Following his graduation Gutiérrez worked as a physician in Barcelona. He became a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC) in 1959. He was arrested in December 1962 and detained in Burgos prison for eight years. Premià De Mar
Premià de Mar () is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality in the Comarques of Catalonia, ''comarca'' of the Maresme in Catalonia. It is situated on the coast between El Masnou and Vilassar de Mar, to the north-east of Barcelona. The town is both a tourist centre and a dormitory town for Barcelona. Antonio Gramsci
Antonio Francesco Gramsci ( , ; ; 22 January 1891 – 27 April 1937) was an Italian Marxist philosophy, Marxist philosopher, Linguistics, linguist, journalist, writer, and politician. He wrote on philosophy, Political philosophy, political theory, sociology, history, and linguistics. He was a founding member and one-time leader of the Italian Communist Party. A vocal critic of Benito Mussolini and fascism, he was imprisoned in 1926, and remained in prison until shortly before his death in 1937. During his imprisonment, Gramsci wrote more than 30 notebooks and 3,000 pages of history and analysis.
