Anton Rittel, also known as Rittel (I) (date of birth unknown) was a Swiss footballer who played for FC Basel as defender or as midfielder. Rittel joined Basel's first team for their 1912–13 FC Basel season under player-coach and captain Ernst Kaltenbach. 1912–13 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1912–13 season was their twentieth season since the club's foundation on 15 November 1893. The club's chairman was Ernst-Alfred Thalmann, all together it was his eleventh presidential term and his fifth season in succession. At the AGM Thalmann stood down and Karl Ibach took over. The club announced that to that point it had grown to have over 300 members at over half of them were active football players. FC Basel played their home games in the Landhof in the district Basel-Wettstein in Kleinbasel, Basel. Overview Emil Hasler was the team captain for the fourth year running and as captain he led the trainings and was responsible for the line-ups. Ernst Kaltenbach
Ernst Kaltenbach (born 7 February 1889 – 10 October 1965) was a Swiss footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Kaltenbach started his playing career with Basel in 1909 and played for the first team until 1927. During this time the FCB played in the Swiss Serie A. Kaltenbach played a total of 275 games for Basel, of which 147 games were in the national championship, five in the Anglo-Cup and 123 in friendly/test games. He scored 20 goals in the domestic league, three in the Anglo-Cup and 26 in the friendly games. In the 1912–13 season Basel won the Anglo-Cup. Kaltenbach was part of the team that won the final on 29 June 1913 in the Hardau Stadium, Zürich against FC Weissenbühl Bern 5–0. On 24 April 1921, Kaltenbach played in a comparison match between a Berlin city selection and FC Basel, in front of 35,000 spectators, he was honoured as best Basel players.
