Anton Quintana
Anton Quintana (6 September 1937 – 15 October 2017), pseudonym of Anton Adolf Kuyten, was a Dutch writer. Biography Early life Quintana was born in 1937 as the twin brother of André Kuyten. His brother was named by his mother and Quintana was named by his father after Anton Mussert and Adolf Hitler. His father abandoned his wife and children when Quintana was two years old to join the Dutch national socialist party. Their mother died of tuberculosis when they were ten years old. The twins then moved to an orphanage in Amsterdam. Due to complications at birth, one side of Quintana's face was left disfigured which was only corrected when he was sixteen years of age. Differences with his brother, both in physical appearance and in popularity, and being abandoned by his father would translate into recurring themes in his work, such as rivalry and a search for identity. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts. De Kris Pusaka
''De Kris Pusaka'' is a Dutch television series broadcast by the Katholieke Radio Omroep. The series was written by Anton Quintana and directed by Bram van Erkel, with cinematography by Fred Tammes. It was a popular success. Its thirteen 25-minute episodes were broadcast from 31 October 1977 until 30 January 1978. The story follows Ben van Rooyen, a researcher who works at the Royal Tropical Institute, a research center in Amsterdam focusing on tropical cultures and especially those of the Dutch East Indies, the former Dutch colony. He purchases a kris, an asymmetrical dagger from Indonesia that often carries symbolic meanings, at auction, which an Indonesian antique dealer tries to procure from him. Per Fredrik Wahlöö (5 August 1926 – 22 June 1975) – in English translations often identified as Peter Wahloo – was a Swedish author. He is perhaps best known for the collaborative work with his partner Maj Sjöwall on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm, published between 1965 and 1975. In 1971, '' The Laughing Policeman'' (a translation of ''Den skrattande polisen'', originally published in 1968) won an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Novel. Wahlöö and Sjöwall also wrote novels separately. Wahlöö was born in Tölö parish, Kungsbacka Municipality, Halland. Following school, he worked as a crime reporter from 1946 onwards. Maj Sjöwall (; 25 September 1935 – 29 April 2020) was a Swedish author and translator. She is best known for her books about police detective Martin Beck. She wrote the books in collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö. Biography Maj Sjöwall was the daughter of Margit Trobäck and CEO Will Sjöwall. After completing school Sjöwall was employed at Åhlén & Åkerlunds publishers between 1954 and 1959, Wahlström & Widstrands publishers between 1959 and 1961 and then Esselte publishers between 1961 and 1963. Sjöwall was best known for the collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm. Martin Beck is a fictional Swedish police detective and the main character in the ten novels by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö, collectively titled ''The Story of a Crime''. Frequently referred to as the Martin Beck stories, all have been adapted into films between 1967 and 1994, six of which were included in a series featuring Gösta Ekman as Martin Beck. Peter van Gestel (3 August 1937, Amsterdam – 1 March 2019, Amsterdam) was a Dutch writer. Career Writing Van Gestel made his debut in 1962 with ''Drempelvrees'', a collection of stories. He received the Reina Prinsen Geerligsprijs for this book. In 1976, he published the book ''Ver van huis'' under the pseudonym Sander Joosten. He made his debut in children's literature with ''Schuilen onder je schooltas'' in 1979. He received the Vlag en Wimpel award for this book. He received the Nienke van Hichtum-prijs 1987 for his book ''Ko Kruier en zijn stadsgenoten'' (1985) with illustrations by Peter van Straaten.
