Anton Filippov (born 6 December 1986 in Tashkent) is an Uzbekistani chess Grandmaster (chess), Grandmaster (2008). Career He won the Asian Junior Chess Championship, Asian Under 16 Chess Championship 2001 in Doha, and the Asian U18 Athletics Championships, Asian U18 Athletics Championship in 2004. In 2007 he tied for 1st–3rd with Vladimir Egin and Timur Gareev in the Uzbekistani Chess Championship. Uzbek SSR
The Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (, ), also known as Soviet Uzbekistan, the Uzbek SSR, UzSSR, or simply Uzbekistan and rarely Uzbekia, was a union republic of the Soviet Union. Zhou Jianchao (; born June 11, 1988) is a Chinese-American chess player. In 2006, he became China's 21st Grandmaster at the age of 17. Zhou competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2007, 2009 and 2015. Career Zhou Jianchao learned to play chess at the age of 6. He achieved the norms required for the Grandmaster title at the 2005 Aeroflot Open (A2 Group), the 2005 Dubai Open and the 2006 Aeroflot Open (A2 Group). Ding Liren ( zh, c=丁立人; born 24October 1992) is a Chinese chess grandmaster who was the 17th World Chess Champion from 2023–24. He is also a three-time Chinese Chess Champion, was a member of the Chinese chess teams that won the Chess Olympiads in 2014 and 2018, and is currently signed to the professional esports club LGD Gaming. Surya Shekhar Ganguly (born 24 February 1983) is an Indian chess Grandmaster (chess), grandmaster. His peak ELO rating was 2676 (July 2016). Ganguly became an International Master at the age of 16 and a Grandmaster (chess), grandmaster at the age of 19. He has won 40 individual gold, 21 individual silver and 6 individual bronze medals in National as well as International tournaments. The Chess World Cup 2009 was a 128-player single-elimination tournament, played between 20 November and 14 December 2009, in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. The Cup winner qualified for the Candidates stage of the World Chess Championship 2012. Boris Gelfand defeated Ruslan Ponomariov in the final. The winner of the Chess World Cup 2007, Gata Kamsky, was defeated by Wesley So in the third round. Format Matches consisted of two games (except for the final, which consisted of four). Players had 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move from move one. Niaz Murshed (born 13 May 1966) is a Bangladeshi chess Grandmaster. In 1987, at the age of 21, he became the first South Asian to earn the grandmaster title. Early life Murshed was born in Dhaka in the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), to Manzur Murshed and Najma Ahmed. He picked up the game from his older brother. His neighbor was Jamilur Rahman, who later became a national champion himself. These favorable conditions may have contributed to the young Murshed's devotion to chess. Alexander Anatolyevich Shabalov (; ; born September 12, 1967) is an American chess grandmaster and a four-time winner of the United States Chess Championship (1993, 2000, 2003, 2007). He also won or tied for first place seven times in the U.S. Open Chess Championship (1993, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2015, 2016). Merab Gagunashvili ( ka, მერაბ გაგუნაშვილი; born 3 January 1985) is a Georgian chess grandmaster. He is a two-time Georgian Chess Champion. Elshan Moradi Abadi (; born 22 May 1985) is an Iranian and American chess grandmaster. Biography When he was 16, he won the 2001 Iranian Chess Championship with a score of 10/11, ahead of Ehsan Ghaem Maghami. He was one of the members of Iran's national team in the first World Mind Sports Games held in Beijing (2008), in which the Iranian team surprisingly clinched third place ahead of Hungary, USA, and India. Vadim Malakhatko
Vadim Volodymyrovych Malakhatko (; 22 March 1977 – 5 June 2023) was a Ukrainian chess grandmaster. He was a member of the gold medal-winning Ukrainian team at the 2001 World Team Chess Championship.
