Anton Einsle
Anton Einsle (1801–1871), an Austrian portrait painter, was born at Vienna 30 January 1801. He studied at the Academy of that city, and was largely patronized by the court and nobility. He died at Vienna 10 March 1871. Archduke Karl Ludwig Josef Maria of Austria (30 July 1833 – 19 May 1896) was the younger brother of both Franz Joseph I of Austria and Maximilian I of Mexico, and the father of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria (1863–1914), whose assassination ignited World War I. Archduke Joseph Anton Johann of Austria (, , 9 March 1776 – 13 January 1847) was the 103rd and penultimate palatine of Hungary who served for more than 50 years from 1796 to 1847, after he had been appointed governor in 1795. The latter half of his service coincided with the Hungarian Reform Era, and he mediated between Francis I, King of Hungary and the Hungarian nobility, representing the country's interests in Vienna. He played a prominent role in the development of Pest as a cultural and economic centre, and the neoclassical buildings constructed on his initiative define the modern appearance of the city. Heinrich Von Heß
Heinrich Hermann Josef Freiherr von Heß (alternatively: von Hess) (17 March 1788, Vienna – 13 April 1870, Vienna), was an Austrian soldier and field marshal, who entered the army in 1805 and was soon employed as a staff officer on survey work. He distinguished himself as a subaltern at Aspern and Wagram, and in 1813, as captain, again served on the staff. In 1815, he was with Karl Philipp, Prince of Schwarzenberg. He had, in the interval between the two wars, been employed as a military commissioner in Piedmont, and at the peace resumed this post, gaining knowledge which later prover invaluable to the Austrian army. In 1831, when Radetzky became commander-in-chief in Austrian Italy, he took Heß as his chief of staff. This began the connection between two famous soldiers which, like that of Blücher and Gneisenau, is a classical example of harmonious co-operation between commander and chief of staff. The ''Portrait of Ferenc Kölcsey'' ( hu, Kölcsey Ferenc arcképe) is a painting by Anton Einsle in the Art Collection of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. It is probably the most famous portrait of Ferenc Kölcsey, a leading Hungarian poet, literary critic, orator, and politician in the Reform Era, who wrote the Himnusz, the national anthem of Hungary. History The idea of the portrait painting emerged for the first time in a letter written by the literary critic Ferenc Toldy to Kölcsey on 10 December 1834. There is a passing mention that Kölcsey was going to visit his friend, the poet József Bajza in Pest on his way towards Pozsony and there he was going to sit for a portrait. The original idea obviously came from Bajza. Kölcsey was 45 years old at the time when the portrait was created. He had served as deputy of Szatmár County in the Diet of Hungary until 1835.
