''Anton'' is a 2008 Irish action thriller film directed by Graham Cantwell. It stars Anthony Fox as Anton, a man drawn into the troubles along the Northern Ireland Border in 1972. The film also features Gerard McSorley, Laura Way, Vincent Fegan, Andy Smith and Ronan Wilmot. The film was written for the screen by Anthony Fox. ''Anton'' was produced by Patrick Clarke and Anthony Fox. EastWest Film Distribution and High Fliers Films released the film to theatres in Ireland and the UK on 8 October 2008. Graham Cantwell
Graham Cantwell (born 25 March 1974) is an Irish film and television director. He is best known for directing feature film Anton which achieved a three-week domestic cinema release and was nominated for three Irish Film and Television Awards in 2009. His short film ''A Dublin Story'' was shortlisted for Academy Award Nomination in 2004 having picked up several film festival awards. In 2010 he directed a new television drama ''The Guards'' for TV3 in Ireland. Most recently he directed a romantic comedy set in the film industry in London, '' The Callback Queen'', which premiered at The Galway Film Fleadh in July 2013 and screened in the U.S. at The Jean Cocteau Cinema, owned and run by George R. John Illsley
John Edward Illsley (born 24 June 1949) is an English musician, best known as bassist of the rock band Dire Straits, and he is one of the two members who stayed in the band during the existence, along with the frontman Mark Knopfler. He has received multiple BRIT and Grammy Awards, and a Heritage Award. As one of the founding band members, with guitarist brothers Mark Knopfler and David Knopfler, and drummer Pick Withers, Illsley played a role in the development of Dire Straits' sound.
