Antoine Hamid Mourany
Antoine Hamid Mourany (in Arabic:أنطوان حميد موراني, January 24, 1930, in Al Qoubaiyat, Lebanon – April 16, 2012) was an archbishop of the Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Damascus. Life Ordained priest on 11 June 1960, Mourany was elected bishop on 5 June 1989 by the Maronite Synod to the Archeparchy of Damascus. Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, gave him his episcopal ordination on September 16 of the same year, and his co-consecrators were Joseph Merhi Joseph Merhi, CML (18 January 1912 in Mreijat, Lebanon – 30 March 2006) was a Maronite Bishop of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Cairo in Egypt. Al Qoubaiyat
Al Qoubaiyat, Koubeiyat, Kobayat or Qoubayat ( ar, ٱلْقُبَيَّات) is the biggest Christian village in the Akkar Governorate, Lebanon. Its population is mostly composed of Maronites numbering around 12,000 persons according to the civil state registers. It is usually full with people during summer but a few stay during the winter. The village's mountainous terrain and snowy winters harbour many leisure activities including hiking, camping, mountain biking, offroading and sightseeing. During the winter, many locals and tourists head towards its high peaks for skiing. Etymology The origin of the name "Al Qoubaiyat" is Aramaic. Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Damascus ( la, Archeparchy Maronitarum Damascena) is an archeparchy of the Maronite Church. In 2013 there were 20,300 members. List Of Maronite Patriarchs
This is a list of the Maronite patriarchs of Antioch and all the East, the primate of the Maronite Church, one of the Eastern Catholic Churches. Starting with Paul Peter Massad in 1854, after becoming patriarch of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch, they assume the name "Peter" (Boutros in Arabic, بطرس ), after the traditional first Bishop of Antioch, St. Peter, who was also the head of the Apostles. The official title that the Maronite Patriarch assumes is "Patriarch of Antioch and All the East". Joseph Merhi, CML (18 January 1912 in Mreijat, Lebanon – 30 March 2006) was a Maronite Bishop of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Cairo in Egypt. Life Joseph Merhi entered into the Congregation of Maronite Lebanese Missionaries and received his priestly ordination on 13 July 1936. On 24 August 1972 Pope Paul VI appointed him bishop of the Eparchy of Cairo for the Maronites. Georges Abi-Saber, O.L.M. (May 12, 1923 – August 26, 2015) was a Lebanese Hierarch of Maronite Church and former eparch of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Latakia and Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Saint Maron of Montreal. Life Abi-Saber was born in Wadi Sette, Lebanon and was ordained a priest on July 16, 1952 from the religious order of the Lebanese Maronite Order. He was appointed bishop of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Latakia by Pope Paul VI on August 4, 1977 and ordained bishop on November 12, 1977. Abi-Saber was consecrated eparch by the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, Anthony Peter Khoraish on 23 November 1977 and his co-consecrators were Joseph Salamé, Archbishop of Aleppo, and Ibrahim Hélou, bishop of Sidon. The Baladites, formally known as the Lebanese Maronite Order (; abbreviated OLM), is a monastic order among the Levant-based, Catholic Maronite Church, which from the beginning has been specifically a monastic Church. The order was founded in 1694 in the Monastery of Mart Moura, Ehden, Lebanon, by three Maronite young men from Aleppo, Syria, under the patronage of Patriarch Estephan El Douaihy (1670–1704).
