Giant Antpitta
The giant antpitta (''Grallaria gigantea'') is a perching bird species in the antpitta family (Grallariidae). Rare and somewhat enigmatic, is known only from Colombia and Ecuador. It is presumably a close relative of the similar undulated antpitta, ''G. squamigera'', which occurs to the south of ''G. gigantea''. The giant antpitta has three subspecies, one of which might be extinct.BLI 009/ref> Description ''G. gigantea'' is, as its name suggests, a huge antpitta. Length ranges from and weight is up to , which makes it easily the heaviest of all tracheophone suboscine birds – its nearest rival, the chestnut-throated huet-huet, is not known to exceed . Its back, wings, and the stubby tail are dusky olive-brown. The top of the head is pale to medium grey, running down to the neck. The remaining plumage is deep rufous-brown. The throat and breast feathers are black-edged, resulting in a dark barring in these regions. The bill is dark, strong and heavy; the eyes are likewise ...

Environment Of Ecuador
The Environment of Ecuador contains almost 20,000 species of plants, 1,500 species of birds, 341 species of mammals and more than 840 species of reptiles and amphibians. It includes World Heritage Sites like the Galápagos Islands, and magnificent parks such as the Yasuni National Park. Damage to the environment Mining in Ecuador has come at a great environmental cost, though it has provided some financial revenue. Logging and oil exploitation are other major problems. In 2007, president Correa proposed the Yasuní-ITT Initiative so as to allow preserving the Yasuni national park, while still allowing to generate revenue for the country. Environmental performance In the Yale University and Columbia University 10 Environmental Performance Index, Ecuador was ranked 30 in the world, ahead of some rich countries. Ecuador had a 2018 Forest Landscape Integrity Index mean score of 7.66/10, ranking it 35th globally out of 172 countries. See also *Water supply and sanitation in Ecuado ...

Black-faced Ibis
The black-faced ibis (''Theristicus melanopis'') is a species of bird in the family Threskiornithidae. It is found in grassland and fields in southern and western South America. It has been included as a subspecies of the similar buff-necked ibis, but today all major authorities accept the split. The black-faced ibis also includes the Andean ibis (''T. branickii'') as a subspecies. Some taxonomic authorities (including the American Ornithological Society) still do so. Taxonomy The black-faced ibis was formally described in 1789 by the German naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in his revised and expanded edition of Carl Linnaeus's ''Systema Naturae''. He placed it in the genus ''Tantalus'' and coined the binomial name ''Tantalus melanopsis''. Gmelin based his description on the "black-faced ibis" that had been described and illustrated in 1785 by the English ornithologist John Lathamin his book ''A General Synopsis of Birds''. Latham had based his account on a specimen ...
