Anti-Terrorism Force
The Anti-Terrorism Force was a Druze militia that was affiliated with the Syrian Brigade Party. Activities The organization was established by the Syrian Brigade Party. Members of the group met with the Security Committee in Suwayda in August 2021, which threatened to bomb their headquarters. There were clashes between the Raji Falhout group and other groups, following the seizure of a seller and a university student in September 2021, in an attempt by the Raji Falhout group to force the release of a member of Military Intelligence who had been taken by the Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF). A member of the Falhout group was captured by the ATF and his confession was aired on Facebook. The group clashed with members of the National Defence Forces in September 2021. The armed group had seized Jawdat Hamza, who was reportedly involved in drug trafficking, and delivered him to the US military stationed at the Al-Tanf base. Ahmed Jaafar
Ahmed Jaafar, also known by the name Abu Yassin, was a Syrian drug trafficker. Activities He was originally from the Daraa town of Busra al-Sham, which he fled after its takeover by rebel forces in 2013 and relocated to a farm near Suwayda. Wafiq Nasser, who was made leader of the Suwayda branch of the Military Intelligence Directorate in 2011, "played a key role" in expanding the sale of drugs in the area. Jaafar was captured in 2015 by a group from Al-Qurayya and turned over to state security, though he was released the same day. Jaafar was kidnapped on 19 March 2018 and his body was found a week later. The Sheikh al-Karama Forces took responsibility for his death, saying that he had acknowledged the responsibility of Hezbollah, Military Security and Nasser for the assassination of Druze sheikh Wahid al-Balous. The Security Committee, also called the Daraa Military and Security Committee, was established in Southern Syria in 2018. Background The Bashar al-Assad regime, following the recapture of Southern Syria after the 2018 Southern Syria offensive, allowed former rebel groups to reconcile with it and operate autonomously in the region.
