Anthony Norman Davis
Air Commodore Anthony Norman Davis, (14 August 1918 – 1988) was a Royal Air Force officer who served as a pilot during the Second World War. Early life and career Born in the Farnham area of Surrey, Davis was the son of Lieutenant Colonel H. J. N. Davis. He graduated from the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich as a second lieutenant in the Royal Engineers of the British Army. In 1940, he transferred to the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a pilot. RAF career Davis served in the Second World War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (United Kingdom), Distinguished Flying Cross as a flight lieutenant in 1943, and received the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) as an Acting rank, acting squadron leader in 1945. The citation for his DSO was published in the ''London Gazette'' of 24 July 1945, reading: When Davis announced his engagement to Dominique Gauquié in 1950 he was the air attache in Budapest."Marriages." Farnham
Farnham (Help:IPA/English, /ˈfɑːnəm/) is a market town and civil parish in Surrey, England, around southwest of London. It is in the Borough of Waverley, close to the administrative counties of England, county border with Hampshire. The town is on the north branch of the River Wey, a tributary of the River Thames, Thames, and is at the western end of the North Downs. The civil parish, which includes the villages of Badshot Lea, Hale, Surrey, Hale and Wrecclesham, covers and had a population of 39,488 in 2011. Among the prehistoric artefacts from the area is a woolly mammoth tusk, excavated in Badshot Lea at the start of the 21st century. The earliest evidence of human activity is from the Neolithic and, during the Roman Britain, Roman period, tile making took place close to the town centre. Edward Akrout
Edward Akrout is a Franco-British artist and actor. Early life and education Born in Paris, Akrout grew up between France and England. He studied philosophy at the Sorbonne before attending Le Cours Florent in Paris for theatre, followed by time at the National Institute in Bucharest. He lives between London, New York and Paris. Akrout moved to England where he studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Since graduating in 2008, Akrout has been prominent on both the screen and the stage. He is the grandson of Air Commodore Anthony Norman Davis (14 August 1918 – 1988) a British Royal Air Force officer who served as a pilot during the Second World War. ''Man Alive'' is a documentary and current affairs series which ran on BBC2 between 1965 and 1981. During that time there were nearly 500 programmes tackling a range of social and political issues, both in the UK and abroad. The series was commissioned by David Attenborough, while he was Controller of BBC2 between 1965 and 1969. British television journalist and presenter Esther Rantzen worked on ''Man Alive'' in the mid-1960s. One of the programme's reporters and series editor was Desmond Wilcox, whom Rantzen later married. Wilcox contributed directly to about 50 ''Man Alive'' programmes. The ''Man Alive'' theme music was composed and played by Tony Hatch and his orchestra.
