Anthony Jackson (musician)
Anthony Jackson (June 23, 1952) is an American bassist. Described as "one of the masters of the instrument", he has performed as a session musician and live artist. He is also credited with the development of the modern six-string bass, which he refers to as a contrabass guitar. Biography Jackson played piano before starting guitar in his teens. When he turned to bass guitar, he was inspired by James Jamerson and Jack Casady. Jackson worked as a session musician, in the Billy Paul band, and with Philadelphia International Records. Paul’s 1972 hit "Me and Mrs. Jones" was Jackson’s first No. 1 record. His performance on "For the Love of Money" by The O'Jays helped move the song to No. 9 on the pop chart and No. 3 on the R&B chart in 1974. Jackson is a student of Jerry Fisher, Lawrence Lucie, and Pat Martino. He has performed live in more than 30 countries and has recorded in more than 3000 sessions on more than 500 albums. Anthony Jackson (actor)
Anthony Thomas Jackson (18 February 1944 – 26 November 2006) was an English actor. He appeared as the founder of the eponymous ghost hiring agency in the BBC children's comedy series '' Rentaghost'' and as Sid Abbott’s neighbour Trevor, in the sitcom '' Bless This House''. Jackson began his career with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He studied at Rose Bruford College and in 1965 joined the Radio Drama Company by winning the Carlton Hobbs Bursary. Later he played at the Mermaid Theatre and the Nottingham Playhouse. Roles Jackson played the part of The Tale Bearer (a narrator not included in the original story) in the 1968 BBC Radio dramatisation of J. R. R. Tolkien's '' The Hobbit''. Sir Anthony Jackson (1599–1666) was an English lawyer, soldier, and knight in the seventeenth century. A cavalier during the English Civil War, he was knighted by Charles II, participated in the Battle of Worcester, and was imprisoned in the Tower of London for over a decade. Biography Jackson was born in 1599 in Killingwold Grove, Bishop Burton, Yorkshire, England, the son of Richard Jackson and Ursula Hildyard. Richard was the son of Anthony Jackson and Margaret Frobisher, the sister of Martin Frobisher. He was baptized at All Saints on 5 September 1599. He was ten years, eleven months old when his father died. Jackson was admitted to the Inner Temple on 30 October 1616 to study law. In the late 1620s, he worked as private secretary to George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham. He was called to the Bar in 1635. He would become Bencher 25 years later, after the war, in 1660. Anthony Mather-Jackson
Sir Anthony Henry Mather-Jackson, 6th Baronet (9 November 1899 – 11 October 1983) was an English colliery owner and manufacturer. He was an all-round cricketer who played for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire from 1920 to 1927. Jackson was born in Westminster, the son of William Mather-Jackson and his wife Georgina Hallowes. He was educated at Harrow School, playing in the first XI in 1916 and 1917. He joined the Grenadier Guards. Jackson started his Derbyshire cricket career in the Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1920, 1920 season, making his debut for Derbyshire against Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Nottinghamshire, and playing one further match in what was a very unsuccessful season for Derbyshire. Anthony Jackson (paediatrician)
Anthony Derek Maurice Jackson (1918–2005) was a British paediatrician, recognised for his pioneering work in the management of cystic fibrosis. Life Jackson was born in Dublin in 1918. He obtained his qualification in medicine from Middlesex Hospital Medical School in 1943, then served in the Royal Army Medical Corps in Holland, Germany, and north Africa. He later worked as a consultant paediatrician at the London Hospital and in a specialist cystic fibrosis clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children. He served on the council of the Royal College of Physicians and, for ten years from 1984, as chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust's Research and Medical Advisory Committee. He died on 24 December 2005. Anthony Tyson Jackson (born June 6, 1986) is a former American football defensive lineman. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the third overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at LSU. Early years Jackson attended West St. John High School in Edgard, Louisiana where he was a member of the Rams 2003 and 2004 2A State Championship teams. He was a two-way lineman who was named Class 2A Defensive Player of the Year after a senior season that totalled 84 tackles, 16 sacks, and 17 pressures, while winning the state championship. He was named All-District and All-Parish on the gridiron and also lettered in basketball. Considered a three-star recruit by ''Rivals.com'', Jackson chose LSU over Oklahoma State and Colorado.
