Anthony Cioffi
Anthony Cioffi (born August 26, 1994) is an American professional football safety and linebacker. He played college football for Rutgers University, where he was a four-year starter, as a cornerback his freshman and sophomore years, as a free safety his junior year, and as a strong safety in his senior season. He was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He spent two years on the CFL's Ottawa Redblacks before signing a futures/reserves contract with the New York Jets of the National Football League. In January 2021, Cioffi signed with the BC Lions. Early life Anthony's parents, Jerry and Josephine Cioffi, own a deli in his hometown of Springfield, NJ. His mother is an Italian teacher at Florence M. The Ottawa Redblacks (officially stylized as REDBLACKS) (Canadian French, French: ) are a professional Canadian football team based in Ottawa, Ontario. Safety (S), historically known as a safetyman, is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety (FS) and the strong safety (SS). Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The 2024 UFL dispersal draft was the player selection process to fill the rosters of the eight teams for the 2024 UFL season and disperse the rosters from the eight teams from its component conferences, the XFL and USFL, that were not retained in the merger. Anthony Averett (born November 30, 1994) is an American professional football cornerback. He played college football at Alabama. Early life Averett attended Woodbury Junior-Senior High School in Woodbury, New Jersey. He played football and ran track in high school. At the 2012 Penn Relays, he placed second in the long jump. His senior year, he was one of the best high school long jumpers in the nation, with a jump of 25 feet, two inches, which was the second-longest jump in New Jersey history.
