Black Slate are a reggae band based in the United Kingdom, formed in 1974. They toured heavily around London and backed Jamaican musicians such as Dennis Brown, Delroy Wilson, and Ken Boothe when they played in the UK. They toured the UK in their own right for the first time in 1978, and released four albums between 1979 and 1985. History Black Slate was formed in 1974, including musicians from England, Jamaica, and Anguilla. The Chosen Few (reggae Group)
The Chosen Few are a reggae group from Kingston, Jamaica, formed in 1969 and were popular until the mid-1980s. History The Chosen Few evolved from the Federals, with the latter's Franklin Spence and David Scott joined by Noel Bunny Brown and Richard McDonald. They initially recorded reggae covers of songs by artists such as Blue Mink and The Delfonics for producer Derrick Harriott. Scott left the group to embark on a solo career as a deejay, to be replaced by Busty Brown, formerly of the Messengers. The line-up changed again, with McDonald being replaced by Errol Brown, the group working with producer Lloyd Charmers and enjoying hits with versions of the Stylistics' "People Make the World Go Round" among others, followed in 1973 by the album ''Hit After Hit''. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. Keith Williams (born ), better known as Honey Boy, is a Jamaican reggae singer best known for his recordings in the 1970s who is regarded as one of the pioneers of lovers rock. Biography Williams was born in Saint Elizabeth Parish . He moved to the United Kingdom in the late 1960s, living in Oxford before settling in London. He found work as a backing vocalist with Laurel Aitken before recording his debut single "Jamaica" for Trojan in 1971 and for Junior Lincoln's Banana label, beginning with the "Homeward Bound" single. Several singles followed, credited to Honey Boy and other pseudonyms such as Happy Junior and Boy Wonder. He contributed "Jamaica" to the 1971 live album ''Trojan Reggae Party'', and his first album, ''This Is Honey Boy'', was released in 1973. In the mid-1970s he worked with former Studio One musician Winston Curtis, who had relocated to the UK and moved into production. He also recorded for Count Shelley.
