Anthony Acampora is a professor emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as the founder of the Center for Wireless Communications at the University of California, San Diego. Education and career Acampora earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 1973. Before joining the University of California, San Diego in 1995, he served as a professor of electrical engineering and as the Director of the Center for Telecommunications Research at Columbia University. The New York University Tandon School of Engineering (commonly referred to as Tandon) is the engineering and applied sciences school of New York University. Tandon is the second oldest private engineering and technology school in the United States. The school dates back to 1854 when its predecessor institutions were separately founded: the University of the City of New York School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which evolved into the NYU College of Engineering; and the Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute, which evolved into Polytechnic Institute.
