Syed Kamal Bakht (1930 – 15 December 2000) was a Bangladeshi politician and a Member of Parliament of Satkhira-1. Early life Syed Kamal Bakht was born in 1930, to a renowned Bengali Muslim Sayyid, Syed family also known as the Al-Hashimi (surname), Hashimi family in the village of Tetulia in Tala Upazila, Tala, Satkhira District, Satkhira, Khulna Division, Khulna District. As a part of the Muslim Student League, he took part in the Bengali language movement. Career Bakht successfully won a seat in the 1970 Pakistani general elections but did not become a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan due to the outbreak of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He played an important role as a freedom fighter. He was elected to parliament from Satkhira-1, Khulna-13 as an Awami League candidate following the 1973 Bangladeshi general elections. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামী, Bānglādēsh Jāmāyatē Islāmī, Bangladesh Islamic Assembly), previously known as Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, or Jamaat for short, was the largest Islamist political party in Bangladesh. The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament, or MP.
