The Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) (), also known as Ansar-al Islam Bangladesh or Ansar Bangla is a militant organization in Bangladesh, implicated in many terrorist activities including Attacks on atheists in Bangladesh, attacks and murders of atheist bloggers from 2013 to 2015. Bangladesh Police arrest one member of Ansarullah Bangla Team for connection with Ashulia bank robbery. History A new report in 2013 identified Muhammad Jasimuddin Rahmani as the spiritual leader of a militant group in Bangladesh. He was inspired by Anwar al-Awlaki, who had been killed by the US. Muhammad Jasimuddin Rahmani
Muhammad Jasimuddin Rahmani () is a Deobandi jihadist islamic scholar and Mufti from Bangladesh. He was the imam of Hatembagh Jame Masjid in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Jasimusdun Rahmani, a Jihadist, is the chief of an Al-Qaeda affiliated militant organisation, Ansarullah Bangla Team. He was in custody in Bangladesh, charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He supported the murder of atheist bloggers. Early life Rahmani was the Imam of Hatembagh Jame Masjid in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He studied in madrasas in Bangladesh and outside the country. He was inspired by Al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki. Career Rahmani used to operate a website called "Ansarullah Bangla Team". The site and the militant group he headed were held responsible for the murder of several secular activists in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is the largest Islamist political party in Bangladesh. The origin of the party can be traced back to the original faction founded by Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi in 1941. The predecessor of Jamaat which is known as Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, allegedly opposed the independence of Bangladesh and the dismemberment of Pakistan. Following the independence of Bangladesh, the party was banned along with all other religion-based parties in 1972 by the regime. Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir, commonly known as Chhatrashibir or Shibir, is an Islamic student organisation in Bangladesh. It was established in 1977 as the successor to the East Pakistani faction of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba colloquially known as Islami Chattra Shangha.
