Another Animal (album)
''Another Animal'' is the only studio album by the rock supergroup Another Animal. It was released on October 2, 2007. The song "Amends" appeared in the closing credits for the 2008 zombie horror film ''Insanitarium''. History During the writing of '' IV'' by Godsmack, lead singer Sully Erna encountered writer's block; so guitarist Tony Rombola, drummer Shannon Larkin, and bassist Robbie Merrill went to the studio and recorded music. After writing almost 40 songs, only 14 were used. The left-over songs were then recycled by the members after they recruited Whitfield Crane of Ugly Kid Joe as well as Lee Richards, Godsmack's first guitarist, and Another Animal was born. Sound The music of the album sounds similar to ''IV'', but the vocals are distinct. Another Animal was an American rock supergroup formed by members of Godsmack, Ugly Kid Joe, and Dropbox. History During the writing sessions of '' IV'' by Godsmack, lead singer Sully Erna encountered writer's block so Tony Rombola, Shannon Larkin, and Robbie Merrill went to the studio and recorded music. After writing almost 40 songs, only 14 were used (two being bonus songs). The left-over songs were then recycled by the members after they recruited Whitfield Crane of Ugly Kid Joe and Another Animal was born. Soon joining the band was friend and former Godsmack and Dropbox guitarist Lee Richards. The band released its self titled debut album in 2007 and first single "Broken Again" reached No. 8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. To support their debut album, Another Animal opened for Alter Bridge on tour in late 2007. Shannon Larkin
James Shannon Larkin (born April 24, 1967) is an American musician, best known as the former drummer of the rock band Godsmack. He replaced the band's previous drummer Tommy Stewart in June 2002, and played on six of their studio albums: '' Faceless'' (2003), '' IV'' (2006), '' The Oracle'' (2010), '' 1000hp'' (2014), ''When Legends Rise'' (2018), and ''Lighting Up the Sky'' (2023). At the time of his departure from the band in late 2024, Larkin was Godsmack's longest-serving drummer. Prior to Godsmack, Larkin was a member of Amen, Candlebox, Ugly Kid Joe, and Souls at Zero (formerly Wrathchild America). Career Larkin has been playing drums since the age of ten. He formed Wrathchild America in 1978, recording two albums for Atlantic Records before being dropped by the label. Storm Thorgerson
Storm Elvin Thorgerson (28 February 1944 – 18 April 2013) was an English art director and music video director. He is best known for closely working with the group Pink Floyd through most of their career, and also created album or other art for Led Zeppelin, Phish, Black Sabbath, 10cc, the Alan Parsons Project, the Mars Volta and the Cranberries. Early life Thorgerson, who was of Norwegian descent, was born in Potters Bar, Middlesex (now part of Hertfordshire). Ted Jensen (born September 19, 1954) is an American mastering engineer, known for having mastered many recordings, including the Eagles' '' Hotel California'', Green Day's '' American Idiot'' and Norah Jones' ''Come Away with Me''. Early life and education Jensen was born on September 19, 1954, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Carl and Margaret (Anning) Jensen, both of whom were musicians. Carl had studied at Yale University. Ugly Kid Joe is an American hard rock band from Isla Vista, California, formed in 1989. The band's name spoofs the glam metal band Pretty Boy Floyd's name.
