''Anno Domini 1989–1995'' is a box set by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released on 31 May 2024. It includes four of five albums from the 1987–1997 Tony Martin-era of the band, with '' Headless Cross'' (1989), '' Tyr'' (1990) and '' Cross Purposes'' (1994) all remastered, and '' Forbidden'' (1995) remixed by guitarist Tony Iommi, making this the first time those albums have officially been reissued or remastered. Background Iommi mentioned re-releases of the Martin-era catalogue as early as March 2016, explaining, "We've held back on the reissues of those albums because of the current Sabbath thing with Ozzy Osbourne, but they will certainly be happening... Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward (musician), Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. ''The Eternal Idol'' is the thirteenth studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath, released in November 1987 in the UK and on 8 December 1987 in the US. It is the first Black Sabbath album to feature vocalist Tony Martin. It spent six weeks on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, peaking at 168. It was also the last full album of new material by Black Sabbath to be released by Warner Bros. Records (in North America), and the final album through their original label Vertigo Records until the release of '' 13'' in 2013. He was the guitarist, keyboardist, backing vocalist and primary songwriter of the rock band Van Halen, which he founded with his brother Alex Van Halen, Alex in 1972. Terence Michael Joseph "Geezer" Butler (born 17 July 1949) is an English musician, best known as the bassist and primary lyricist of the pioneering Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Geoff Nicholls
Geoffrey James Nicholls (29 February 1948 – 28 January 2017) was an English guitarist and keyboardist, and longtime member of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath until 2004. Nicholls also played in the NWOBHM band Quartz before joining Black Sabbath. In the 1960s/early 1970s, Geoff played lead guitar for the Birmingham bands The Boll Weevils, The Seed, Johnny Neal and the Starliners, and played keyboards for World of Oz. Career Nicholls was originally brought in as a second guitarist when Black Sabbath doubted whether they would even continue under that name. Nicholls then switched to bass when Geezer Butler left briefly, and then became the band's keyboardist upon Butler's return and the decision to keep the Sabbath name. Cozy Powell (born Colin Trevor Flooks; 29 December 1947 – 5 April 1998) was an English drummer who made his name with major rock bands and artists such as The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Gary Moore, Graham Bonnet, Brian May, Whitesnake, Emerson, Lake & Powell, and Black Sabbath. ''The Sabbath Stones'' is a compilation album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released on 29 April 1996, through I.R.S. Records as a European exclusive. The recording mostly features songs taken from the Tony Martin-era of the band, while also featuring tracks from Born Again, Seventh Star, and Dehumanizer. It was the final album to be released by Black Sabbath under the I.R.S. label. Album information The album was created solely to fulfill Black Sabbath's contract with I.R.S. Ronnie James Dio
Ronald James Padavona (July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010), known professionally as Ronnie James Dio, was an American heavy metal singer. He fronted numerous bands throughout his career, including Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven & Hell. Dio's music career began in 1957 as part of the Vegas Kings (later Ronnie and the Rumblers). In 1967, he formed the rock band Elf, in which he sang and played bass.
