Annik Shefrazian
Annik Shefrazian ( hy, Աննիկ Շաֆրազեան; fa, آنیک شفرازیان), known mononymously as Annik ( hy, Աննիկ; fa, آنیک) was an Iranian Armenian actress of film and television. Biography Born in 1909 or 1910 in New Julfa, Isfahan. She followed the advice of her sister-in-law, a stage artist, to join theater groups and played bit parts with them touring Abadan, before landing her debut in Samuel Khachikian's ''The Stroke'' in 1964, she moved to Tehran and made acquaintance with Khachikian and Arman, and found her way into Armenian show groups. In 1968 Khachikian referred to her another role in ''The White Hell'', which later led to winning character parts in veteran directors' films. Her films include ''The Coachman'' (Nosrat Karimi, 1971), Prince Ehtejab (Bahman Farmanara, 1974), ''The Chess of the Wind'' (Mohammadreza Asalni, 1977), ''The Crow'' (Bahram Bayzai, 1978) and ''Hamoun'' ( Dariush Mehrjui, 1990). Dariush Mehrju'i ( fa, داریوش مهرجویی , born 8 December 1939, also spelled as ''Mehrjui'', ''Mehrjoui'', Mehrjooi, and ''Mehrjuyi'') is an Iranian film director, screenwriter, producer, editor and a member of the Iranian Academy of the Arts. Mehrjui was a founding member of the Iranian New Wave movement of the early 1970s. His second film, '' Gaav'', is considered to be the first film of this movement, which also included Masoud Kimiai and Nasser Taqvai. Most of his films are inspired by literature and adapted from Iranian and foreign novels and plays. Career Early life and education Dariush Mehrjui was born to a middle-class family in Tehran. ''Hamoun'' (, also Romanized as ''Hamoon'', ''Hamun'', ''Hāmoun'', ''Hāmoon'', and ''Hāmun'') is a 1989 psychological drama film directed by Dariush Mehrjui. The film tells the story of a middle-class Iranian – Hamid Hamoun, played by Khosrow Shakibai – and his struggle after his femme fatale wife, Mahshid, played by Bita Farrahi, demands a divorce from him. Hamoun has since gained a cult following in Iran. Plot Hamid Hamoun who is an executive at a leading import-export firm lives with his wife Mahshid who is a budding artist in abstract painting.
