Anne Pedersdotter
Anne Pedersdotter (died 7 April 1590) was an alleged Norwegian witch. Her case was one of the most documented of the many wiccan trials in Norway in the 16th and 17th centuries. Together with Lisbeth Nypan, she was perhaps the most famous victim of the accusation in Norway. Biography Anne Pedersdotter was born in the first half of the 1500s in Trondheim, Norway, the daughter of an official. She was also the sister of Søren Pederssøn, who later became a judge in Trondheim. In 1552, she married Absalon Pedersson Beyer (1528-75), a fellow student of her brother's from Copenhagen who was a humanist, Lutheran clergyman, and theological lecturer at the Latin school in Bergen, where they lived. They had eight children, of which only three survived to adulthood. Her husband passed away in April 1575. Anne Pedersdotter (play)
''Anne Pedersdotter'' (English version, ''The Witch'', trans. John Masefield) is a play written in 1908 by Norwegian playwright Hans Wiers-Jenssen. The play is based on an incident from 1590, when Anne Pedersdotter, the widow of priest Absalon Pederssøn Beyer, was accused of witchcraft and burned alive in the city of Bergen. Plot The play gives a picture of the cultural history of the time, but the plot is not based on historical facts. The title character falls victim of an irresistible desire for her stepson Martin, who is a young theologian. The sinful passion between the young couple shows signs of being bewitched. In the end Anne is convicted as a witch. Productions The play premiered at Nationaltheatret in Kristiania on 12 February 1908, staged by Halfdan Christensen. Kvelertak () is a Norwegian heavy metal band from Stavanger, formed in 2007. The group comprises vocalist Ivar Nikolaisen, guitarists Vidar Landa, Bjarte Lund Rolland and Maciek Ofstad, bassist Marvin Nygaard and drummer Håvard Takle Ohr. Founding member and lead singer Erlend Hjelvik left the group in 2018, being replaced by Ivar Nikolaisen.
