Anne Oi-kan Yue-Hashimoto
Anne Oi-kan Yue is a professor emeritus of Chinese at the University of Washington. Her monograph ''Mandarin Syntactic Structures'' was the first to apply generative grammar to the study of Chinese. She then moved to studies of the phonology and grammar of varieties of Chinese There are hundreds of local Chinese language varieties forming a branch of the Sino-Tibetan languages, Sino-Tibetan language family, many of which are not Mutual intelligibility, mutually intelligible. Hashimoto Mantaro
was a Japanese sinologist and linguist who is best known for advocating research on language geography, linguistic typology, and how different areal features in the varieties of Chinese (such as tonal distinctions) reflect contact with other language families. Life and career Mantarō J. Hashimoto was born in Sawano-mura (沢野村), Nitta District, Gunma (currently Ōta City). Generative grammar is a research tradition in linguistics that aims to explain the cognitive basis of language by formulating and testing explicit models of humans' subconscious grammatical knowledge. There are hundreds of local Chinese language varieties forming a branch of the Sino-Tibetan languages, Sino-Tibetan language family, many of which are not Mutual intelligibility, mutually intelligible.
