Anne Gildea
The Nualas were an Irish cabaret trio known for performing spoof songs. The group — with characters named Nuala, Nuala and Nuala— was founded by Anne Gildea, Sue Collins and Tara Flynn in 1995. Flynn was replaced at several points since 2002 by Susanna de Wrixon, Karen Egan, Maria Tecce, and Josephine O'Reilly. Performing predominantly in the UK and Ireland, including the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001 and 2014, they also performed in New York and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. The group last performed in 2018. In 1998, they produced a series for BBC Radio 4 featuring Paul Tylak and a Christmas special. Tara Flynn
Tara Flynn is an Irish actress and writer. Career Flynn has written three satirical books: ''You're Grand: The Irishwoman's Secret Guide to Life'', ''Giving Out Yards: The Art of Complaint, Irish Style'' and ''Rage-In: Trolls and Tribulations of Modern Life'' She was a founding member of comedy singing group "The Nualas". She is a voice artist and was the voice of Molly in RTE's '' The Morbegs''. She uses satire for activism, as in YouTube sketches such as "Racist B&B", "Armagayddon" and "The Case for Mammy / Daddy Marriage". Jarlath Regan (born 1980) is a London-based Irish comedian and podcaster. A former graphic design consultant, he began his stand-up comedy career in 2003 and by the end of 2004 was a finalist for three major UK comedy newcomer awards: So You Think You're Funny, BBC New Comedy Awards and the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year. While attending University College Dublin, he was auditor of the Literary and Historical Society. Shortly after this he began writing sketches, and material for other comedians and TV shows and established himself as a regular face on the Irish stand-up comedy circuit. The Dublin Comedy Cellar is Ireland's oldest comedy club located on Dublin's South Wicklow Street in the International Bar. The Cellar was founded in 1988 by 'Mr. Trellis' members Irish comedians Ardal O'Hanlon, Barry Murphy and Kevin Gildea. Dermot Carmody later took on a leading role. Irish Marriage Equality Referendum, 2015
The Thirty-fourth Amendment of the Constitution (Marriage Equality) Act 2015 (previously bill no. 5 of 2015) amended the Constitution of Ireland to permit marriage to be contracted by two persons without distinction as to their sex. Prior to the enactment, the Constitution was assumed to contain an implicit prohibition on same-sex marriage in the Republic of Ireland. It was approved at a referendum on 22 May 2015 by 62% of voters on a turnout of 61%. This was the first time that a state legalised same-sex marriage through a popular vote. Two legal challenges regarding the conduct of the referendum were dismissed on 30 July by the Court of Appeal, and the bill was signed into law by the President of Ireland on 29 August.
