Ann Cook (cookery Book Writer)
Ann H. Cook ( 1725 – 1760) was an English cookery book writer and innkeeper. Living in Hexham, Northumberland, Cook, and her husband John, became embroiled in a feud with a well-connected local landowner, Sir Lancelot Allgood, following an argument over an invoice the Cooks had issued. Although they were later exonerated, Allgood continued his attack on them, forcing them to leave their inn and move. Their finances suffered and John was imprisoned for non-payment of debts. To earn money, Cook wrote ''Professed Cookery'' in 1754; in the work, in addition to a range of recipes, she included a poem and an "Essay upon the Lady’s Art of Cookery". This was an attack on Allgood's sister Hannah Glasse, who had published a best-selling cookery book, ''The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy'' in 1747. Ann Cook (musician)
Ann Cook (? – September 29, 1962) was an American blues and gospel singer. Born and raised in rural Louisiana, Cook moved to New Orleans as a teenager. She served as a prostitute and singer in the Storyville neighborhood, living in an area known as "The Battlefield". She worked out of Willie Piazza's brothel during the later years of Storyville's existence, and after the end of World War I and Storyville's dismantling, Cook moved to Rampart Street. During this time she worked on two of her surviving recordings, "Mama Cookie Blues" and "He’s the Sweetest Black Man in Town", which were originally published by Victor Records in 1927. At the time, her voice was considered so well-liked that it could "stop the traffic on Rampart Street". In the late 1940s and 1950s, Cook left the blues and began to take up gospel music, working with Wooden Joe Nicholas and his band on the single ''The Lord Will Make a Way'', released in 1949. Rosalie Ann Cook (born October 25, 1974) is an American soccer coach and former player. A versatile defender or midfielder, she played for the San Jose CyberRays and Washington Freedom of Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) and won a single cap for the senior United States women's national soccer team. Ann Turner Cook (born Ann Leslie Turner; November 20, 1926 – June 3, 2022) was an American educator and mystery novelist who was best known as the model for the familiar Gerber Baby artwork, seen on baby food packages of the Gerber Products Company. Early life and Gerber Baby history Born in Westport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Bethel (Burson) and syndicated cartoonist Leslie Turner, who drew the comic strip ''Captain Easy'' for decades. The family's neighbor was the artist Dorothy Hope Smith, who did a charcoal drawing of Ann when she was a baby. In 1928, when Gerber announced it was looking for baby images for its upcoming line of baby food, Smith's drawing was submitted and subsequently chosen. It was trademarked in 1931. Anne, Lady Bacon (née Cooke; 1527 or 1528 – 27 August 1610) was an English lady and scholar. She made a lasting contribution to English religious literature with her translation from Latin of John Jewel's ''Apologie of the Anglican Church'' (1564). She was the mother of Francis Bacon.
