Ann Sather Restaurant
Ann Sather's is a Chicago restaurant with locations in Lakeview, Chicago and since 2012, a location in Edgewater, Chicago. From 1987 to 2013, there was a location in Andersonville, Chicago. Serving Swedish cuisine, Ann Sather opened the eponymous restaurant in 1945. When Sather retired in 1981, she sold the restaurant to Tom Tunney, a 24 year old graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. Open for breakfast and lunch, they are famous for their cinnamon rolls. Jeff Mauro calls them insane. Tunney is credited with expanding the menu "to include the most famous breakfast in town." They are also known for their potato sausage and Swedish pancakes. In 2019, Tunney made a deal with Tim Glascott for the Belmont Avenue location that will last for at least ten years, under a sale/lease back arrangement. Tom Tunney
Thomas M. Tunney (born August 22, 1955) is an American politician and entrepreneur from Chicago, Illinois. From 2003 to 2023, he served as an alderman on the Chicago City Council. He represented the 44th Ward of the city, which includes major tourist destinations, Northalsted and Wrigleyville neighborhoods. He was also vice mayor from 2019 to 2023. Education Tunney was born and raised in the southwest side of Chicago. After graduating from Brother Rice, a local Catholic high school, he attended the University of Illinois where he obtained his bachelor's degree in restaurant management. Tunney succeeded in obtaining a master's degree in hotel administration from Cornell University. Entrepreneur Returning from college, Tunney moved into the Lakeview neighborhood. Lakeview (also Lake View) is one of the 77 community areas of Chicago, Illinois. History The first issue of ''Crain's Chicago Business'' is dated April 17, 1978. In 1977, when Crain Communications chief Rance Crain went to Houston to give a speech to the Houston Advertising Club, he spent an afternoon listening to the publisher of the ''Houston Business Journal'' explain how his publication was developed. Jeff Mauro
Jeff Mauro (born July 24, 1978) is the co-host of the Food Network series ''The Kitchen'' and host of ''Sandwich King'' and '' $24 in 24''. Prior to this, he was the winner of the seventh season of the ''Food Network Star'' competition. Mauro, who is originally from Oak Park, Illinois, incorporates local Chicago restaurants into the context of his show.
