Ankerske Naturstein
Ankerske Naturstein is a stonemasonry company in Fauske, Norway. It was established as Den Ankerske Marmorforretning by Christian August Anker in 1885, when he established a marble refinery in Isebakke Isebakke is a village in the municipality of Halden, Norway. He bought a marble quarry in Fauske, and in 1910 the refinery was also moved there. It eventually expanded with several new quarries. Among others the company delivered marble to the United Nations Building. The refinery in Fauske has been owned by the employees since 1999 under the name Ankerske Naturstein. The quarry was sold in 2000. Fauske (town)
is a town in Fauske Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is also the administrative centre of Fauske Municipality. The town is located on the shore of the Skjerstad Fjord, about east of the town of Bodø and about west of the border with Sweden. The lake Nervatnet lies on the southeast side of the town. The town has a population (2018) of 6,304 and a population density of . The town was established as a "town" in 1998 when the municipal council of Fauske Municipality designated it as such. It is the site of the local municipal government. Fauske Church and the Fauske Upper Secondary School are both located in the town as well. Christian August Anker
Christian August Anker (9 August 1840 – 30 September 1912) was a Norwegian industrialist. He played an important role in the early mining industry in Norway and was also a pioneer in the wood-processing industry. He was born at Halden in Østfold, Norway. The son of wholesaler Peter Martin Anker, he was the brother of Nils Anker and Herman Anker. He was raised at the manor house Rød herregård in Halden and was educated in engineering at Hannover and Zurich. Together with his brother Nils Anker, he created one of Norway's first pulp mill, Ankers Træsliberi & Papirfabrik at Fredrikshald in 1867. From 1873, he bought a number of properties at Hønefoss where a pulp mill became operational during 1881. He first became engaged in marble extraction at Fauske in 1884. Østfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in southeastern Norway.
