Bootstrap Paradox
A temporal paradox, time paradox, or time travel paradox, is a paradox, an apparent contradiction, or logical contradiction associated with the idea of time travel or other foreknowledge of the future. While the notion of time travel to the future complies with the current understanding of physics via relativistic time dilation, temporal paradoxes arise from circumstances involving hypothetical time travel to the past – and are often used to demonstrate its impossibility. Types Temporal paradoxes fall into three broad groups: bootstrap paradoxes, consistency paradoxes, and Newcomb's paradox. Bootstrap paradoxes violate causality by allowing future events to influence the past and cause themselves, or "bootstrapping", which derives from the idiom "." Consistency paradoxes, on the other hand, are those where future events influence the past to cause an apparent contradiction, exemplified by the grandfather paradox, where a person travels to the past to prevent the conception of o ...

Silurian (Doctor Who)
The Silurians and Sea Devils are two fictional related ancient species created by Malcolm Hulke for the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. The Silurians are a race of scientifically advanced reptilian humanoids from the dawn of man which first appeared in ''Doctor Who'' in Hulke's 1970 serial '' Doctor Who and the Silurians''. The Sea Devils are similar to the Silurians, but hail from the oceans and are aquatic, having debuted in the serial '' The Sea Devils'' (1972). Both species then reappeared in the 1984 serial '' Warriors of the Deep'', which was the final appearance of both races prior to the show's cancellation in 1989. Following the show's revival in 2005, heavily redesigned Silurians were reintroduced to the series in 2010, and have recurred frequently since then. The Sea Devils were reintroduced in 2022, with their designs mostly unchanged. Working under producer Terrance Dicks, Hulke came up with the idea of the Silurians to accom ...

In the long-running BBC television science fiction programme ''Doctor Who'' and related works, the term "companion" refers to a character who travels with, or shares adventures with, the The Doctor (Doctor Who), Doctor. A companion is generally the series' co-lead character alongside the Doctor for the duration of their tenure, and in most ''Doctor Who'' stories acts as an audience surrogate by providing the lens through which the viewer is introduced to the story, and often, the series itself. The companion character often furthers the story by asking questions and getting into trouble; also by helping, rescuing, or challenging the Doctor. This designation is applied to a character by the show's producers and appears in the BBC's promotional material and off-screen fictional terminology. The Doctor also refers to the show's other leads as their "friends" or "assistants"; the British press have also used the latter term. History In the earliest episodes of ''Doctor Who'', the dr ...

Time Travel
Time travel is the hypothetical activity of traveling into the past or future. Time travel is a concept in philosophy and fiction, particularly science fiction. In fiction, time travel is typically achieved through the use of a device known as a time machine. The idea of a time machine was popularized by H. G. Wells's 1895 novel ''The Time Machine''. It is uncertain whether time travel to the past would be physically possible. Such travel, if at all feasible, may give rise to questions of causality. Forward time travel, outside the usual sense of the perception of time, is an extensively observed phenomenon and is well understood within the framework of special relativity and general relativity. However, making one body advance or delay more than a few milliseconds compared to another body is not feasible with current technology. As for backward time travel, it is possible to find solutions in general relativity that allow for it, such as a rotating black hole. Traveling t ...
