"Animal Instinct" is a song performed by former '' DSDS''-contestant Annemarie Eilfeld under the pseudonym ''Annemie''. It was the first single from her debut studio album "I'm Burning Up". It was produced and published by the German record company x-cell records and was released on 11 May 2010 in Germany as a digital download, and on 14 May 2010 as a 2-track CD single. Background and release Eilfeld gained fame when she took part at German casting show ''Deutschland sucht den Superstar'' (''DSDS''), the German version of the ''Idol''-franchise, in 2009. Though she made it to third place, she didn't want to get a contract with manager Volker Neumüller or producer Dieter Bohlen. Instead she decided to work on her music career on her own and signed to label x-cell records on 1 September that year. Volker Neumüller (born 18 October 1969) is a German music manager and was known for being a judge on ''Deutschland sucht den Superstar''. Career Born in Cuxhaven, Neumüller has been involved in the music industry since 1987. In 1991, he became the A&R director of Record label PolyGram, a position he also later held at Sony BMG. From 2002 to 2004, Neumüller was also the general manager of Epic Records. Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar
''Deutschland sucht den Superstar'' (''DSDS''; "Germany is looking for the Superstar") is a German reality talent show. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it was created by British media mogul Simon Fuller as a spin-off from the British show ''Pop Idol'', of which two series were broadcast between the years of 2001 and 2003. Debuting to mediocre ratings in November 2002 on the RTL network, the show has since become one of the most successful shows on German television. The program aims to discover the best singer in the country through a series of nationwide auditions in which viewer voting determines the winner. Voting is done through phone and SMS text voting.
