Angèle Hug
Angèle Hug (born 30 July 2000) is a French slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2017. She competes in the C1 and K1 events, having competed in C2 Mixed with Théo Roisin in 2017. She is from Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux in the Ardèche department of France. She won a silver medal in the kayak cross event at the 2024 Summer Olympic in Paris. She also won three medals (two silvers and one bronze) at the European Championships. Career She finished 2nd in domestic selections for the C1 event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, becoming Olympic substitute and securing a spot on the World Cup team. At her first World Cup in Pau, Hug placed 8th after qualifying third fastest into the final. At the 2021 European Championships in Ivrea, she won a bronze medal in the C1 team event, placing 16th individually. Hug finished 4th in the mixed C2 event at the 2017 World Championships in Pau. Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux (, literally ''Les Ollières on Eyrieux''; ) is a Communes of France, commune in the Ardèche Departments of France, department in southern France. The nearest towns are Privas and Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut. History The first records of a settlement can be dated back to the 12th century. Situated on the banks of the river Eyrieux (a tributary to the Rhône), Les Ollières (as it is often shortened to by the local people) became a central location for the treatment and processing of silk in the early 18th century. The silk (and later different textiles) industry was to feature heavily in the surrounding area. 21st century The village has now become a tourist location, attracting many Netherlands, Dutch, Germany, German, Switzerland, Swiss and England, English tourists to its many camp sites during the summer months.
