AngoSat 2
AngoSat 2 is an Angolan geostationary communications satellite that is designed to provide telecommunications and broadcasting services to Angola and the surrounding regions. It is the successor to the AngoSat 1 satellite, which was launched in 2017 but experienced technical difficulties and was declared dead and a total loss. AngoSat-2 was developed to replace AngoSat-1 and to enhance Angola's communication infrastructure. Development and construction AngoSat-2 was developed as a joint venture between the Angolan government and Russia. The project was overseen by the , in partnership with RSC Energia, a Russian aerospace company. The satellite was constructed by RSC Energia at its facilities in Russia. The development and construction of AngoSat-2 involved collaboration between Angolan and Russian engineers and scientists. The satellite was designed to be compatible with the Proton-M or Breeze-M launch vehicle, which is capable of placing the satellite into geostationary orbi ...

Communications Satellite
A communications satellite is an artificial satellite that relays and amplifies radio telecommunication signals via a Transponder (satellite communications), transponder; it creates a communication channel between a source transmitter and a Radio receiver, receiver at different locations on Earth. Communications satellites are used for television, telephone, radio, internet, and military applications. Many communications satellites are in geostationary orbit above the equator, so that the satellite appears stationary at the same point in the sky; therefore the satellite dish antennas of ground stations can be aimed permanently at that spot and do not have to move to track the satellite. Others form satellite constellations in low Earth orbit, where antennas on the ground have to follow the position of the satellites and switch between satellites frequently. The radio waves used for telecommunications links travel by Line-of-sight propagation, line of sight and so are obstructe ...

Satellites Of Angola
A satellite or an artificial satellite is an object, typically a spacecraft, placed into orbit around a Astronomical object, celestial body. They have a variety of uses, including communication relay, weather forecasting, navigation (GPS), broadcasting, scientific research, and Earth observation. Additional military uses are reconnaissance, Early warning system, early warning, signals intelligence and, potentially, weapon delivery. Other satellites include the final rocket stages that place satellites in orbit and formerly useful satellites that later become defunct. Except for passive satellites, most satellites have an electricity generation system for equipment on board, such as solar panels or radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs). Most satellites also have a method of communication to ground stations, called Transponder (satellite communications), transponders. Many satellites use a Satellite bus, standardized bus to save cost and work, the most popular of which a ...

National Space Program Management Office
The National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) is an Angolan government agency responsible for promoting the peaceful use of space and conducting technical space studies. GGPEN was established through the Angola Presidential Decree 154/13, page 2673. The agency's mission is to conduct strategic studies aimed at establishing cooperation agreements with technical and scientific institutions in the space domain and ensuring the creation of national technological and human competencies and the transfer of technology and know-how within the scope of the National Space Program. The Angola National Space Strategy plan for 2016-2025 was approved by the presidential decree n. º 85/17, 10 of May, the strategy is based in the following 5 main pillars: * Development of space and ground segment * Human capacity building programs * Creation and growth of the Angolan space industry * International affirmation * Space policy Satellite projects GGPEN launched the AngoSat-1 in 2017, which we ...

ANGOP
The Angola Press News Agency or Angola Press Agency (ANGOP; ) is an official news agency of Angola, based in Luanda. Founded in 1975, it was a former close ally of the now-defunct TASS of the Soviet Union. It is part of the . History ANGOP was founded in April 1975 under the name ''Agência Nacional Angola Press'' (ANAP) and later renamed ''Agência Angola Press'' when Angola gained independence, by order dated October 30, 1975, promulgated by then president Agostinho Neto and enjoyed autonomy and editorial independence under Presidential Decree No. 9/75 of 15 September 1975. By Presidential Decree No. 11/78 published on February 3, 1978, ANGOP became a state communication organ. The agency has continued to grow from that date. By the 1980s it had developed into an organization employing over 300 personnel, mostly journalists and editors working on 24-hour shifts. There were offices located throughout the country and five offices abroad, in Portugal, Brazil, United Kingdom, Z ...

Geostationary Transfer Orbit
In space mission design, a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) or geosynchronous transfer orbit is a highly elliptical type of geocentric orbit, usually with a perigee as low as low Earth orbit (LEO) and an apogee as high as geostationary orbit (GEO). Satellites that are destined for geosynchronous orbit (GSO) or GEO are often put into a GTO as an intermediate step for reaching their final orbit. Larson, Wiley J. and James R. Wertz, eds. Space Mission Design and Analysis, 2nd Edition. Published jointly by Microcosm, Inc. (Torrance, CA) and Kluwer Academic Publishers (Dordrecht/Boston/London). 1991. Manufacturers of launch vehicles often advertise the amount of payload the vehicle can put into GTO. Background Geostationary and geosynchronous orbits are very desirable for many communication and Earth observation satellites. However, the delta-v, and therefore financial, cost to send a spacecraft to such orbits is very high due to their high orbital radius. A GTO is an intermedia ...

Transponder (satellite Communications)
A communications satellite's transponder is the series of interconnected units that form a communications channel between the receiving and the transmitting antennas. It is mainly used in satellite communication to transfer the received signals. A transponder is typically composed of: * an input band-limiting device (an input band-pass filter), * an input low-noise amplifier (LNA), designed to amplify the signals received from the Earth station (normally very weak, because of the large distances involved), * a frequency translator (normally composed of an oscillator and a frequency mixer) used to convert the frequency of the received signal to the frequency required for the transmitted signal, * an output band-pass filter, * a power amplifier (this can be a traveling-wave tube or a solid-state amplifier). Most communication satellites are radio relay stations in orbit and carry dozens of transponders, each with a Bandwidth (signal processing), bandwidth of tens of megahertz. M ...

Briz (rocket Stage)
The Briz-K, Briz-KM and Briz-M ( meaning ''Breeze-K, KM and M'') are Russian liquid-propellant rocket orbit insertion upper stages manufactured by Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center and used on the Proton-M and Angara A5. The upper stages were also used on Rokot, one of Russia's smaller launchers, before its retirement in 2019. Characteristics Briz-K and Briz-KM Briz-K, GRAU index 14S12, is a single-piece structure with a conical tank compartment and the engine located in a recess in the fuel tank. Briz-KM ( GRAU index 14S45) is an improved version of Briz-K. The Briz-K and Briz-KM were used as a third stage of the Rokot launch vehicles. Briz-M Briz-M, GRAU index 14S43, is designed for injecting large payloads into a low, medium-height or high geosynchronous orbit. Briz-M is a twin upper stage consisting of a core module (using Briz-KM as the baseline) and a jettisonable add-on toroidal tank surrounding the core. It is powered by a pump-fed gimba ...
