Angeluccio
Giovanni Angelo (ca. 1620 - ca. 1650), better known as Angeluccio, was an Italian or Flemish landscape artist. He was a prominent pupil of Claude Lorrain and was active in Rome around 1645-1650. As an eminent member of Bamboccianti, he acquainted and befriended other influencer artists of the time, including Michelangelo Cerquozzi with whom he often collaborated. He is regarded as an artist of considerable talent and his works are often mistaken for his master's. According to Pascoli, a biographer known for his writing of Angeluccio’s master Claude Lorrain, Angeluccio was the most exceptional among all of Claude Lorrain's pupils. Unfortunately, Angeluccio died young and produced only a modest number of works. His entire heritage consists of 25 paintings and 35 drawings, dated 1640–1650. Michelangelo Cerquozzi
Michelangelo Cerquozzi, known as Michelangelo delle Battaglie (18 February 1602 – 6 April 1660) was an Italian Baroque painter known for his genre scenes, battle pictures, small religious and mythological works and still lifes. His genre scenes were influenced by the work of the Flemish and Dutch genre artists referred to as the Bamboccianti active in Rome who created small cabinet paintings and prints of the everyday life of the lower classes in Rome and its countryside. Claude Lorrain
Claude Lorrain (; born Claude Gellée , called ''le Lorrain'' in French; traditionally just Claude in English; c. 1600 – 23 November 1682) was a French painter, draughtsman and etcher of the Baroque Painting, Baroque era. He spent most of his life in Italy, and is one of the earliest important artists, apart from his contemporaries in Dutch Golden Age painting, to concentrate on landscape painting. Bamboccianti
The ''Bamboccianti'' were genre painters active in Rome from about 1625 until the end of the seventeenth century. Most were Dutch and Flemish artists who brought existing traditions of depicting peasant subjects from sixteenth-century Netherlandish art with them to Italy, and generally created small cabinet paintings or etchings of the everyday life of the lower classes in Rome and its countryside.Haskell, pp. 132–134. Swanevelt
Herman van Swanevelt (1603 – 1655) was a Dutch painter and etcher from the Baroque era. Life Herman was born in Woerden to a family of thriving artisans whose ancestors included the famous painter Lucas van Leyden. The identity of Swanevelt’s teacher remains a mystery. A new hypothesis suggests that he was a pupil of Willem Buytewech. He painted his first signed and dated works in 1623 in Paris. In 1629 he moved to Rome, where he painted many landscapes, and introduced a new type of idyllic landscape with sunlit 'contrejours' reflecting the times of day. Jan Both
Jan Dirksz Both (between 1610 and 1618 - August 9, 1652) was a Dutch painter, draughtsman, and etcher, who made an important contribution to the development of Dutch Italianate landscape painting. Biography Both was born in Utrecht, and was the brother of Andries Both. According to Houbraken, the brothers first learned to paint from their father, who was a glass-painter or glazier there. Dutch art describes the history of visual arts in the Netherlands, after the United Provinces separated from Flanders. Flemish Painting
Flemish painting flourished from the early 15th century until the 17th century, gradually becoming distinct from the painting of the rest of the Low Countries, especially the modern Netherlands.
