Angelo Bertoni
Angelo Pietro Dante Bertoni (7 November 1933 – 31 March 2021) was an Australian politician who was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Bertoni was born at Ingham, Queensland, the son of Pietro Bertoni and his wife Rosalinda (née Ditali) He was educated at Ingham Roman Catholic School and Mount Carmel College in Charters Towers before attending the University of Queensland where he earned a diploma in pharmaceutics. He owned a pharmacy in Brisbane from 1956 until 1961 before moving to Mount Isa where he also owned a pharmacy. He married Fay Joan McEwen and together had five sons and two daughters. Public career Bertoni was a member of the Mount Isa City Council, including the city's Mayor from 1973 to 1975. Columba Catholic College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational primary and secondary day and boarding school, located in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia. It is a school of the Diocese of Townsville. Established in 1998, the school currently caters for approximately 610 students from pre-school to year 12, including 200 boarders from year 4 to 12. 1974 Queensland State Election
Elections were held in the Australian state of Queensland on 7 December 1974 to elect the 82 members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The National- Liberal Coalition won a third consecutive victory under Joh Bjelke-Petersen, and the seventh consecutive victory for the National Party in Queensland, which had renamed itself from the Country Party since the previous election. The Labor Party lost two-thirds of its seats, including that of leader Perc Tucker—its worst showing in an election until 2012. Labor was reduced to only 11 seats, leading observers to call Labor's caucus a "cricket team." City Of Mount Isa
The City of Mount Isa is a local government area in north west Queensland. The City covers the urban locality of Mount Isa, the administrative centre, and surrounding area, sharing a boundary with the Northern Territory to the west. Mount Isa is a reasonably affluent district. The largest industry in the city is the Mount Isa Mines, a source of lead, copper, silver and zinc. Cattle grazing and tourism are other industries of note. Mount Isa ( ) is a city in the Gulf Country region of Queensland, Australia. It came into existence because of the vast mineral deposits found in the area. Mount Isa Mines (MIM) is one of the most productive single mines in world history, based on combined production of lead, silver, copper and zinc. With an urban population of 18,727 in 2021 census, Mount Isa is the administrative, commercial and industrial centre for the state's vast north-western region. Although situated in an arid area, the artificial Lake Moondarra north of the city on the Leichhardt River provides both drinking water and an area for watersports, birdwatching and recreation. Charters Towers is a rural town in the Charters Towers Region, Queensland, Australia. It is by road south-west from Townsville on the Flinders Highway. During the last quarter of the 19th century, the town boomed as the rich gold deposits under the city were developed. Electoral District Of Mount Isa
Mount Isa was an electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in the state of Queensland, Australia from 1972 to 2017. It was located in the outback of the far west of the state and covered an area of 570,502 sq kilometres. As of the 2015 state election, it had 19,119 registered electors a decrease from 19,170 in 2009. The district took its name from the mining city of Mount Isa, which held the great majority of the electorate's population. Most of the electorate was virtually unpopulated. Following the implementation of one vote one value reforms in 1989, Mount Isa was one of five remote electorates that were allowed a greater variance from the average seat's population. The seat was held by the conservative parties for all but two terms in the first two decades of its existence, mostly coinciding with the height of National dominance.
