Angelito "Mang Lito" Antonio (born February 3, 1939) Retrieved 3 March 2015. is a Filipino painter. He was born in Malolos, Bulacan. Since he was young, he was already earning titles and awards from various contests. Modernism
Modernism is both a philosophical and arts movement that arose from broad transformations in Western society during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The movement reflected a desire for the creation of new forms of art, philosophy, and social organization which reflected the newly emerging industrial world, including features such as urbanization, architecture, new technologies, and war. Abstract art uses visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Antonio Gilbuena Austria (born May 5, 1936) is a Filipino visual artist. Early life Antonio Gilbuena Austria was born in Shanghai, China on May 5, 1936. Her parents, Pedro Austria and Lucila Gilbuena, were both from San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines. In 1937, after the Sino-Japanese War broke out, his family returned to the Philippines and settled in the Municipality of San Juan (now a city). In 1942, the young Austria began his education in Santa Lucia Elementary School, located just a few meters away from their house in San Juan. As a young boy, he learned drawing by copying his favorite characters from the comics. By the time he went to high school at San Sebastian College in 1948, he had decided to pursue a career in the arts. Marcel Antonio
Marcel Antonio (born June 28, 1965) is a Filipino painter. Considered one of the most promising young talents in Philippine contemporary art while still attending the University of the Philippines' College of Fine Arts in the late 1980s, he launched a solo show and thereafter dropped out of the college to continue to produce collections of his distinctly narrative as well as pseudo-narrative figurative paintings influenced by modernism and 1980s postmodernism.
