Angel Aldan Demapan (born May 27, 1982 in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) is a Northern Mariana Islands politician affiliated with the Republican Party. Early life Demapan was born on Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, on May 27, 1982, to Juan Deleon Guerrero Demapan and Rosario Benavente Aldan. His father died from a stroke when he was 11-years old, while his mother suffered paralysis from a stroke a few years later. Gregorio Sablan
Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (born January 19, 1955) is a Northern Mariana Islander politician and former election commissioner. Elected in 2008, Sablan became the first delegate to the United States House of Representatives from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Sablan is the only Chamorro member of Congress. Sablan has been a member of the Democratic Party throughout his life, but ran as an Independent for the delegate position, as the Democrats had nominated another candidate. He immediately changed his party affiliation in the House to Democratic in 2009, caucuses with Democrats and has remained an official party member during his tenure, but ran as an Independent in all of his reelection campaigns between 2010 and 2020. The Northern Mariana Islands Senate is the upper house of the Northern Mariana Islands Commonwealth Legislature. The Senate consists of nine senators representing three senatorial districts (Saipan & the Northern Islands, Tinian & Aguijan, and Rota), each a multi-member constituency with three senators. Maria Frica Pangelinan was the first woman to serve in the Senate. Vacancies In the event of a vacancy that occurs less than two years before the end of the Senator's term, the Governor of the Northern Mariana Islands appoints the runner-up of the most recent election.
