Poisson Hill is a rounded ice-free hill rising to 80 m at the north extremity of Breznik Heights, Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica and surmounting the Chilean Antarctic base Captain Arturo Prat Base, Arturo Prat to the west-southwest. ''Angamos Hill'' (55 m) is lying 370 m north-northeast of it and 850 m south-southeast of Ash Point. Poisson Hill was charted by the 1947 Chilean Antarctic Expedition and named after Sub-Lieutenant Maurice Poisson who signed the official act of inauguration of Arturo Prat Base in 1947, while Angamos Hill was named after that expedition's transport ship ''Angamos''. Mejillones
Mejillones is a Chilean port city and commune in Antofagasta Province in the Antofagasta Region. Its name is the plural form of the Spanish meaning "mussel", referring to a particularly abundant species and preferred staple food of its indigenous inhabitants. It is situated in the northern side of the Mejillones Peninsula, 60 km north of the city of Antofagasta. Battle Of Angamos
The Battle of Angamos () was a naval encounter of the War of the Pacific fought between the navies of Chile and Perú at Punta Angamos, on 8 October 1879. The battle was the culminating point of a naval campaign that lasted about five months in which the Chilean Navy had the sole mission of eliminating its Peruvian counterpart. In the struggle, two armored frigates, led by Commodore Galvarino Riveros Cárdenas and Navy Captain Juan José Latorre battered and later captured the Peruvian monitor ''Huáscar'', under Rear Admiral Miguel Grau Seminario. After the loss of the frigate ''Independencia'' at Punta Gruesa, Grau sought to challenge the outnumbering Chilean fleet with a harassing strategy, focused on inflicting as much damage as possible while avoiding a full-scale engagement. As Grau moved along the Pacific coast, he was chased by Admiral John Williams Rebolledo, who had been ordered to catch Grau no matter what. The ''Angamos'' was built in England for the "Fratelli Lavarello Fu G. B.", from Génova, under the name ''Citta de Venezia''. Later she was sold to William Ruys & Zonen, from Rotterdam and renamed ''Spartan'' In 1891, during the Chilean Civil War of 1891, she was sold to the Chilean government, renamed ''Angamos'', but she arrived to Valparaíso in 1892, after the end of the war and was operated by the CSAV. On 6 July 1928 she sailed bound for Talcahuano under Captain Ismael Suárez Maldonado as she sunk off Punta Morguillas , Lebu, Chile Lebu is a port city and commune in central Chile administered by the Municipality of Lebu.
