Andy Young (baseball)
Andrew Jacob Young (born May 10, 1994) is an American former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Amateur career Young attended West Fargo High School in West Fargo, North Dakota. As a senior in 2012, he was named the North Dakota Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year after he batted .389 with six home runs and 38 RBIs alongside pitching to a 5–0 record with a 1.47 ERA. Undrafted out of high school in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, he enrolled at the University of Jamestown to play college baseball. After his freshman year, he transferred to Neosho County Community College. Following his sophomore season at Neosho, Young enrolled at Indiana State University. In 2015, as a junior at Indiana State, he batted .296 with seven home runs and 42 RBIs in 54 games and was awarded Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention. Peoria Chiefs
The Peoria Chiefs are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The team was established in 1983 as the Peoria Suns. They are located in Peoria, Illinois, and are named for the Peoria Indian tribe for which the city was named. In 2005, the team replaced the indigenous imagery associated with the Chiefs name and moved to a logo of a dalmatian depicted as a fire chief. 2016 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2016 Major League Baseball draft began on June 9, 2016, to assign amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The draft order is the reverse order of the 2015 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2015 MLB draft. The Philadelphia Phillies received the first overall selection. The Los Angeles Dodgers received the 36th pick as compensation for failing to sign Kyle Funkhouser, the 35th overall selection of the 2015 MLB draft. Teams from the smallest markets and revenue pools are eligible for competitive balance draft picks. Jackson Generals
The Jackson Generals were a professional baseball team located in Jackson, Tennessee. From 1998 to 2020, they were a part of Minor League Baseball's Southern League (SL) as the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs (1998–2006), Seattle Mariners (2007–2016), and Arizona Diamondbacks (2017–2020). Paul Edward Goldschmidt (born September 10, 1987), nicknamed Goldy, is an American professional baseball first baseman for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals. He has also represented the United States in international competition. Carson Franklin Kelly (born July 14, 1994) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, and Texas Rangers. Born in Chicago, Kelly was raised in Beaverton, Oregon. Luke Allen Weaver (born August 21, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners. Weaver attended Florida State University, where he played college baseball for the Florida State Seminoles. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season baseball league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Florida State League
The Florida State League (FSL) is a Minor League Baseball league based in the state of Florida. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The Home Run Derby is an annual home run hitting competition in Major League Baseball (MLB) customarily held the day before the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, MLB All-Star Game, which places the contest on a Monday in July.
