Andy Vidak
James Andrew Vidak (born November 13, 1965) is an American politician. A Republican, he served in the California State Senate, representing the 14th Senate District, which encompasses Kings County, as well portions of Fresno County, Kern County, and Tulare County in California's Central Valley. From 2013 to 2014, Vidak represented the 16th Senate District. Vidak was first elected to the State Senate in a 2013 special election after the resignation of former State Senator Michael Rubio, and was re-elected in 2014. He sought re-election in 2018, but was defeated by Democrat Melissa Hurtado. Dean Raymond Florez (born April 5, 1963 in Shafter, California) is a former California State Senator from the 16th Senate District, who served from 2002 until the end of his second term in November 2010. He was first elected to the California State Assembly in 1998 and served two terms. A Republican, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 1978 to 1992 and again from 2000 to 2002; he was also a member of the California Senate from 1993 to 1994. Special elections to the California State Senate are called by the Governor of California when a vacancy arises within the State Senate. Most special elections are conducted in two rounds. The first is an open primary and the candidate with the most votes must have a majority of the votes plus one to win the seat. California's 20th Congressional District
California's 20th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California. The district is currently represented by Democrat Jimmy Panetta. It encompasses much of the Central Coast region. The district includes Monterey and San Benito counties, most of Santa Cruz County, and portions of Santa Clara County. Prior to redistricting in 2011, the 20th district was located in the San Joaquin Valley. It covered Kings County and portions of Fresno and Kern counties, including most of the city of Fresno.
