Andy Raleigh
Andy Raleigh (born 17 March 1981) is an English former professional rugby league footballer. He played in the Super League for the Huddersfield Giants, the Hull Kingston Rovers and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. He played as a or as a . Background Raleigh was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. Club career Between 2002 and 2004, Raleigh played for Sheffield Eagles. In November 2004, Raleigh joined Hull Kingston Rovers. He scored 17 tries in 30 appearances during which time the club won the Northern Rail Cup and Raleigh was named National League Player of the Year. In September 2005, Raleigh signed a two-year deal to join Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2006 season. Huddersfield
Huddersfield is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne is to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. The rivers around the town provided soft water required for textile treatment in large weaving sheds; this made it a prominent mill town with an economic boom in the early part of the Victorian era Industrial Revolution. The Sheffield Eagles are a professional rugby league club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. They play home games at the Olympic Legacy Park and compete in the Championship, the second tier of British rugby league. 2006 Challenge Cup
The 2006 Challenge Cup (also known as the Powergen Challenge Cup due to sponsorship from Powergen) was the 105th tournament played for rugby league's Challenge Cup. It features teams from across Europe including England, Scotland, Wales, France and Russia. The competition started in January 2006 with the preliminary round where the Gloucestershire Warriors from the Rugby League Conference surprised an established Pennine League team in Illingworth. The final was scheduled to be played at the new Wembley Stadium but in March 2006 it became apparent that the stadium would not be ready for the final on 26 August so it was switched to Twickenham. In the final St. Helens proved too strong for the Huddersfield Giants, winning by 42 points to 12. It was Huddersfield's first final since 1953, when they also faced St Helens.
