Andy Ellis (cricketer)
Andrew Malcolm Ellis (born 24 March 1982) is a New Zealand former international cricketer, who played in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In first-class cricket, Ellis played 26 State Championship games for Canterbury, up to the end of the 2006/7 season. Ellis retired from all forms of cricket in March 2020. He was the second New Zealand cricketer to play 100 or more matches in each format of the game. Domestic career A right-handed batsman and right arm fast medium bowler, he made his debut in 2003 against Auckland. He has scored 910 first class runs at an average of 26.76, with a top score of 78 against Northern Districts. He has also taken 32 wickets at 43.68 with a best analysis of 5 for 63 against Otago. In 11 List-A one-day matches he has scored 157 runs at 22.42 with a top score of 46 and taken 3 wickets at just over 40. He also played six Twenty20 games with moderate returns. Twenty20
Twenty20 (abbreviated T20) is a shortened format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the county cricket, inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of twenty over (cricket), overs. Together with First-class cricket, first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being played at the highest level, both internationally and domestically. A typical Twenty20 match lasts just over 3 hours, with each innings lasting around 90 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings. Jeet Raval
Jeet Ashok Raval (born 22 September 1988) is a New Zealand cricketer. Raval is an opening batsman, who has played for New Zealand internationally and Northern Districts domestically. Originally from Ahmedabad in India, Raval played cricket for New Zealand's under-19 team and then spent eight years playing first-class cricket as an opening batsman for Auckland and Central Districts before being selected to play Test cricket for New Zealand for the first time in 2016. 2017–18 Plunket Shield Season
The 2017–18 Plunket Shield was the 89th season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in New Zealand. The competition started on 23 October 2017 and finished on 5 April 2018. Canterbury were the defending champions. The round eight fixture between Canterbury and Auckland at the Mainpower Oval in Rangiora was called off due to an unsafe pitch. The umpires abandoned the game after only three balls were bowled on day three of the match. Central Districts won the tournament, following the final round of fixtures, after their nearest rivals, Wellington, failed to win their last match. Marylebone Cricket Club
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is a cricket club founded in 1787 and based since 1814 at Lord's, Lord's Cricket Ground, which it owns, in St John's Wood, London, England. The club was the governing body of cricket from 1788 to 1989 and retains considerable global influence. In 1788, the MCC took responsibility for the laws of cricket, issuing a revised version that year. Northern Districts Men's Cricket Team
The Northern Districts men's cricket team are one of six New Zealand first-class cricket teams that make up New Zealand Cricket. They are based in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand (excluding Auckland). They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, the Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Men's Super Smash T20 competition as the Northern Brave. The T20 team was previously known as the Northern Knights until the 2021–22 season, when both the men's and Northern Brave (women's cricket), women's teams were rebranded under the same name.
