André Vilas Boas
André Filipe Monteiro Vilas Boas (born 4 June 1983) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played mainly as a defensive midfielder. He spent 13 senior seasons with Rio Ave, having joined the club at the age of 9. He totalled 132 Primeira Liga matches, including one for Porto and four for Portimonense. Club career Born in Vila do Conde, Vilas Boas spent his entire youth career with hometown club Rio Ave FC. He made his professional debut on 10 March 2002, playing the first 49 minutes of a 1–0 home loss against C.D. Nacional in the second division. On 29 July 2003, Vilas Boas joined FC Porto, being assigned to their reserves. He joined on a season-long loan with the option of a three-year permanent move at the end, and his one first-team appearance came on 11 January 2004 in a 2–0 Primeira Liga away victory over F.C. In professional association football, a free transfer, also known as a Bosman transfer, involves a professional association football club releasing a player when the player's contract has expired or made available just before the end of the contract. The 2013–14 Taça de Portugal was the 74th season of the Taça de Portugal, the premier Portuguese football knockout cup competition organised by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). It was contested by 156 teams from the top four tiers of Portuguese football. The competition began with the first-round matches in September 2013 and concluded with the final at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, on 18 May 2014. The title holders were Primeira Liga side Vitória de Guimarães who entered the 2013–14 competition in the third round, together with the Primeira Liga teams, advancing as far as the next round, where they lost 2–0 to Porto. The Taça da Liga (), known outside Portugal as Portuguese League Cup, is an annual club football competition organised by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional (LPFP) for teams competing in the top two tiers of Portuguese football – the Primeira Liga and Liga Portugal 2.
