André Peperkoorn
André Peperkoorn is a Dutch military general, counter-terrorism official and former politician. Peperkoorn served as a lieutenant colonel in the Dutch military police and later a counter-terrorism officer with the Royal Marechaussee and Dutch ministry of defense. Ahead of the 2002 Dutch general election, Peperkoon was approached by Pim Fortuyn to stand for his party the Pim Fortuyn List. He was placed seventh on the LPF's electoral list for the House of Representatives of the Netherlands, Member of the House of Representatives after the original seventh candidate Martin Kievits was expelled from the LPF after being accused of assault. Peperkoorn was subsequently elected to the House in 2002, but did not take up his seat and renounced his position in politics citing difficulty with the intense media storm following the assassination of Fortuyn. Royal Marechaussee
The Royal Marechaussee (, abbreviated to KMar) also translated as the Royal Military Constabulary, is the national gendarmerie force of the Netherlands, performing military and civilian police duties. It is also one of the two national police forces in the Netherlands, alongside the National Police Corps, and is one of the four branches of the Netherlands Armed Forces. History The was created by King William I to replace the French Gendarmerie on 26 October 1814. The word ''gendarmerie'' had gained a negative connotation, so William called the new force ''"marechaussée"'' (he forgot the first acute accent in the document). The Pim Fortuyn List (, LPF) was a political party in the Netherlands that existed from 2002 to 2008 at a national level and was named after its eponymous founder Pim Fortuyn, a former university professor and political columnist. Hartog Hank Richard "Harry" Wijnschenk (born 24 January 1964 in Amsterdam) is a former Netherlands, Dutch politician. From 2002 to 2003 he was an MP (NL), MP for the Pim Fortuyn List (LPF), and later for the Wijnschenk Group. He briefly served as leader of the LPF in 2002. Biography Wijnschenk has a Jewish background. He worked as a magazine editor and started his political career as an executive for the local branch of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) in his hometown of Almere. Later he joined the LPF and served as a politician in parliament after taking over fellow LPF MP André Peperkoorn's seat who resigned before he was sworn in. In August 2002, Wijnschenk was elected leader of the LPF, replacing Mat Herben who had resigned due to infighting within the party.
