André Geerts
André Geerts (18 December 1955 – 27 July 2010) was a Belgian comics creator best known for his series ''Jojo''. Biography André Geerts was born in Brussels in 1955. He studied at the Institut Saint-Luc art school in Brussels. He started working for ''Le Soir Jeunesse'' (the youth supplement of newspaper ''Le Soir'') in 1974, when he was only 18 years old, before joining the Franco-Belgian comics magazine '' Spirou''. His success series ''Jojo'', about the small scale, real life but humoristic adventures of a boy of seven years old, started in 1983, with on average one new album a year. ''Jojo'' was adapted to the animated television special '' Jojo: The Violet Mystery'' in 2000, and a series was under development. He also created later on ''Mademoiselle Louise'', about a girl of about the same age as Jojo, but who is extremely rich and lonely. Geerts died in 2010 from cancer. Ganshoren
Ganshoren (; ) is one of the List of municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium. Located in the north-western part of the region, it is bordered by Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, Jette, and Koekelberg, as well as the Flanders, Flemish municipality of Asse. Belgian Centre For Comic Strip Art
The Belgian Comic Strip Center (; ) is a museum in central Brussels, Belgium, dedicated to Belgian comics. It is located at 20, /, in an Art Nouveau building designed by Victor Horta, and can be accessed from Brussels-Congress railway station and Brussels-Central railway station. History of the building The building was designed in 1905 by the world-famous architect Victor Horta, in Art Nouveau style, and served as a textile department store, the '. After Waucquez's death in 1920, the building began to languish away, and in 1970, the firm closed its doors. Jean Delhaye, a former aide of Horta, saved the building from demolition, and by 16 October 1975, it was designated as a protected monument. Still, the building was in bad shape and victim to a lot of vandalism. Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum Bussum () is a commuter town and former municipality in the Gooi region in the south east of the province of North Holland in the Netherlands near Hilversum. Durbuy (; ) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium. The total area is 156.61 km2, consisting of the following districts: Barvaux, Bende, Bomal, Borlon, Durbuy, Grandhan, Heyd, Izier, Septon, Tohogne, Villers-Sainte-Gertrude, and Wéris.
