André Gauthier (sculptor)
Colonel André D. Gauthier (1935 – October 26, 2017) was a Canadian army officer, monument sculptor and designer in various materials including bronze. He also drew in oil paint, charcoal and watercolours. Many of his works are connected with the Canadian Armed Forces. The Royal Military College of Canada Gauthier Collection consists of 60 sculptures. Others are in collections of Canada and elsewhere. Military units have presented his sculptures to their associated cities. More went to a member of the British royal family, the Governor General of Canada, two Canadian prime ministers, Canadian cabinet ministers and dozens of visiting foreign dignitaries. Five of are in permanent collection of the Canadian War Museum. Life and work Gauthier was born in 1935 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He was educated in Montreal. Royal Military College Of Canada Museum
The Royal Military College of Canada Museum, established in 1962, is located in a Martello tower known as Fort Frederick on the campus of the Royal Military College of Canada (RRMC or RMC) in Kingston, Ontario, and is operated by the college. Until 2016 the museum had regular hours from the last weekend in June until Labour Day. Although admission was free, donations were accepted. Guided tours were offered in English and French. Genealogical research and archival records services were offered relating to college history or with inquires relating to ex-cadets when permitted by privacy regulations. In 2016, restoration work began on Fort Frederick and the Museum moved out of the Tower, leaving the Museum without a designated public exhibition space. 4 Canadian Division Support Base Petawawa, commonly referred to as Garrison Petawawa, is located in Petawawa, Ontario. It is operated as an army base by the Canadian Army. Mill Of Kintail
The Mill of Kintail Conservation Area is a preserve operated by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority, in Mississippi Mills, Ontario, Canada. The preserve features an 1830s grist mill that was a former summer home and sculpture studio of medical doctor, sculptor and Ramsay Township native, R. Tait McKenzie who kept the mill in the 20th century. The mill is home to the R. Tait Mackenzie Museum, which features many of the artist's sculptures and memorabilia, and the Naismith Museum about James Naismith, another famous native of Ramsay Township and the inventor of basketball. Jeanne Sauvé
Jeanne Mathilde Sauvé (; ; April 26, 1922 – January 26, 1993) was a Canadian politician, journalist and stateswoman who served as the 23rd governor general of Canada from 1984 to 1990 and as the 29th Speaker of the House of Commons (Canada), speaker of the House of Commons from 1980 to 1984. She was the first woman to hold either office, and is to date the only woman to serve as speaker of the House of Commons.
