Andromeda Liberata
''Andromeda liberata'' is a pasticcio-serenata of 18 September 1726, on the subject of Perseus Freeing Andromeda, made as a collective tribute to the visiting Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni by at least five composers working in Venice including Vivaldi. It contains the last documented solo performance by Vivaldi as a violinist, performing the virtuoso violin part in his own aria "Sovente il sole". Perseus Freeing Andromeda
''Perseus Freeing Andromeda'' or ''Liberation of Andromeda'' is a painting created by Piero di Cosimo, during the Italian Renaissance. The painting was praised by critics and art historians for its aesthetic, cosmological and political implications. The painting is a recreation of the myth of Perseus, the demi-god, who slays the sea monster and saves the beautiful Andromeda (mythology), Andromeda. The painting is based on a story created by the ancient Roman writer Ovid, in the ''Metamorphoses''. The themes of the painting include platonic love, ideal beauty, marriage, and natural beauty. The painting includes portraits of the House of Medici, Medici family and many of Florentine's elite upper ruling class as characters in the story of Perseus Freeing Andromeda. Pope Alexander VIII ( it, Alessandro VIII; 22 April 1610 – 1 February 1691), born Pietro Vito Ottoboni, was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 6 October 1689 to his death in February 1691. He is to date the last pope to take the pontifical name of "Alexander" upon his election to the papacy. Alexander VIII is known for having overturned many of the policies of his predecessor, Innocent XI, deciding to indulge in nepotism in order to further enrich his family. Such nepotism exhausted the papal treasury, later forcing his successor, Innocent XII, to implement austere measures to restore the papal coffers. Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 – 28 July 1741) was an Italian composer, virtuoso violinist and impresario of Baroque music. Regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, Vivaldi's influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe, giving origin to many imitators and admirers. He pioneered many developments in orchestration, violin technique and programatic music. Michael Owen Talbot, (born 4 January 1943 in Luton) is a British musicologist and composer. Talbot is a former Professor of Music at the University of Liverpool. Andrea Marcon (born 6 February 1963 in Treviso, Italy) is an Italian conductor, organist, harpsichordist, and scholar. Max Emanuel Cenčić (born 21 September 1976) is a Croatian countertenor, as of 1994 based in Austria. He was a member of the Wiener Sängerknaben. Early career as a boy soprano Born Max Emanuel Cenčić in Zagreb, he started singing at a very early age, earning fame in his native Croatia at the age of six after singing the Queen of the Night's coloratura aria " Der Hölle Rache" from Mozart's ''Die Zauberflöte'' on Zagreb television. From circa 1987 to 1992, Cenčić was a member of the Wiener Sängerknaben, touring and recording with them.
