Andris Šuvajevs
Andris Šuvajevs (born June 18, 1991) is a Latvian economic anthropologist, researcher, and politician. He currently serves as a member of the 14th Saeima, representing the Progressives party. Since April 29, 2023, he has been the Deputy Chairman of the Progressives. Biography He was born into the family of philosophers Igor and Andžela Šuvajeva. On his mother's side, he is the stepson of composer Imants Kalniņš. He earned a bachelor's degree in social sciences in sociology (with distinction) from the University of Glasgow, as well as a master's degree in social anthropology from the University of Oxford. As an economic anthropologist, he has researched the history of post-Soviet economies, state anthropology, and modern monetary theory. He has been a lecturer and researcher at Rīga Stradiņš University, a policy researcher at "Providus", and has also worked in financial journalism at the TVNET portal. In the 2022 parliamentary election, Kaspars Briškens is a candidate for the post of prime minister of the Progressives party. The Progressives (Latvia)
The Progressives ( lv, Progresīvie, ) is a social-democratic and progressive political party in Latvia. The party was founded on 25 February 2017. Since 4 September 2021 its leaders have been and Atis Švinka. The Progressives have 11 seats on Riga City Council and 10 seats in the Saeima but do not hold any seats in the European Parliament.
