Andrew James Snowden (born October 1984) is a British Conservative politician and was elected Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner in the 2021 election held on 6 May. He received 181,314 votes (51.3%) in total, defeating the incumbent, Labour's Clive Grunshaw. He was previously a member of Lancashire County Council representing Hoghton with Wheelton ward in the borough of Chorley. He was born in Bolton and lives in Chorley. Clive Grunshaw
Clive Grunshaw (born October 1961) is a Labour Party politician who served as Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner covering the police force area of Lancashire Constabulary from 2012 to 2021. He is the first person to hold the post and was elected on 15 November 2012 and re-elected in 2016. Grunshaw, a former milkman, said it was a "new era for policing"; however, he admitted turnout was "disappointing". He was formerly Lancashire County Council member for Fleetwood East and Pharos Ward Councillor for Wyre Council, where he was Leader of a minority Labour Group from May 2007 until resigning from that position on 20 November 2012 on assuming the post of Police and Crime Commissioner. 2021 England And Wales Police And Crime Commissioner Elections
Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 6 May 2021, on the same day as the Senedd election in Wales and the local elections in England. This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held (the two previous occasions were in 2012 and 2016). The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 33.2% across the elections, with Wales having much higher turnout. Hoghton
Hoghton is a small village and civil parish in the Borough of Chorley, Lancashire, England. At the 2011 Census, it had a population of 802. Brindle and Hoghton ward also includes the parish of Brindle. Hoghton Tower is a fortified manor house, and the ancestral home of the de Hoghton family from the 12th century. Also within the parish are the hamlets of Riley Green and Hoghton Bottoms. The villages of Gregson Lane and Coupe Green are sometimes described as in Hoghton, although they are outside the parish, forming the ward of Coupe Green and Gregson Lane in the South Ribble district. A local folk tale tells that two Hoghton poachers once raided a rabbit warren inhabited by fairies. When they heard the fairies' voices coming from the sacks they were carrying, they fled in terror. Wheelton
Wheelton is a village and civil parish of the Borough of Chorley, in Lancashire, England. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001 it has a population of 1,001, reducing to 956 at the 2011 Census. The village is located on the A674 Chorley–Blackburn road. There are two communities: Wheelton, which is close to the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and borders Whittle-le-Woods; and Higher Wheelton which is located on the road from Chorley to Blackburn. It is one of the more affluent parts of Lancashire owing to easy motorway access and a semi rural setting. Wheelton Clock Tower is set in a garden at the centre of the village commemorating the men of Heapey and Wheelton who fell in the Great War in 1914-1918. Chorley
Chorley is a town and the administrative centre of the wider Borough of Chorley in Lancashire, England, north of Wigan, south west of Blackburn, north west of Bolton, south of Preston and north west of Manchester. Bolton
Bolton (, locally ) is a large town in Greater Manchester in North West England, formerly a part of Lancashire. A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition.
