Andrew Smith (British Politician)
Andrew David Smith (born 1 February 1951) is a British Labour Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Oxford East from 1987 until 2017. He served in the Cabinet as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 1999 to 2002 and then as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2002 to 2004. Smith retired from the House of Commons at the 2017 general election. Early life Smith was educated at Reading School and St John's College, Oxford, where he gained a BA and BPhil. He was the Member Relations Officer for Oxford and Swindon Co-op Society from 1979 to 1987. He became an Oxford city councillor in 1976, leaving the council in 1987. He contested Oxford East in 1983. The NC State Wolfpack track and field team is the track and field program that represents North Carolina State University. The Wolfpack compete in NCAA Division I as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team is based in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Dail Soccer Field. The program is coached by Laurie Henes. The track and field program officially encompasses four teams, as the NCAA regards men's and women's indoor track and field and outdoor track and field as separate sports. Katelyn Tuohy has the most individual NCAA titles of any Wolfpack athlete, with three across the 3000 m and 5000 m from 2022 to 2023. Andrew Smith (born 28 August 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and the Sydney Swans in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Smith, a defender, was recruited from Watsonia. He played just once in 1980, his debut year, but in 1981 was a regular fixture in the Collingwood team, making 18 appearances, including two finals. A dislocated shoulder, suffered during Collingwood's semi-final win over Fitzroy, cost him his spot in the side and ultimately a grand final. Smith played 11 games in 1982 and added only five more games over the next two seasons and made the move to Sydney. His only appearances for Sydney were in the opening four rounds of the 1985 VFL season. He played in two NCAA Final Fours during his career at Butler Bulldogs men's basketball, Butler, as well as professionally for BC Neptūnas, Neptūnas. Smith grew up in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area. He attended Covenant Christian High School (Indianapolis, Indiana), Covenant Christian High School where he became a star basketball player.
